Dr. Richa Dahiya is the Dean at JK Business School. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Marketing. She has an overall experience of 18 years in the teaching field. She has published articles in various journals of national and international repute.

Can you tell me about your educational background?  

I hold a doctorate degree in Marketing Management and have around 20 years of teaching experience, I have dedicated myself towards providing quality education. I am a vivid researcher myself & I also guide PhD Scholars along with my administrative responsibilities. I have been associated with JK Business School, an institute backed by the esteemed JK Group, for the past 5 years.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

My commitment to the education sector stems from a deep passion for nurturing young minds and shaping future leaders. Being part of JK Business School, which carries the legacy of the renowned JK Group, inspires me to provide a content-rich learning environment. With 80% of our faculty holding PhDs, we strive to create an academic atmosphere that fosters knowledge, innovation, and excellence.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

As a leader, I believe in empowering individuals and fostering collaboration. At JK Business School, we promote a student-centric approach, encouraging holistic development. By providing guidance and support, I aim to create an inclusive and respectful environment. Open communication and active listening are essential aspects of my leadership style, ensuring that students and faculty have a voice.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?

At JK Business School, our curriculum is designed to ensure the best practices of the industry. We incorporate a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application through case studies, industry projects, and internships. Our faculty members, who are experienced industry professionals, bring their insights and expertise to the classroom. We regularly update the curriculum to align with the evolving demands of the business world and to equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their careers. 

What do you think should be the University’s/Institute top priority over the next 10 years?

Additionally, nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset and promoting social responsibility will be key focal points.  

When you first came to your institute, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

When I joined JK Business School, my vision was to establish it as a leading institute that blends academic rigor with practical relevance. This vision has evolved to encompass a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and global exposure. We have made significant strides in implementing this vision, including partnerships with industry leaders like JK Tech. By integrating technology, expanding program offerings, and enhancing research opportunities, we continue to evolve and provide an enriching educational experience.

Covid-19 has brought significant changes in the education sector, pushing institutions to adapt to remote learning and embrace digital transformation. We have witnessed a rapid shift towards online teaching, virtual classrooms, and the use of technology-enabled tools for communication and collaboration. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of resilience, adaptability, and innovative teaching methodologies. It has also accelerated the integration of technology in education, opening new avenues for personalized learning and global connectivity.

Are there any placement opportunities for the students?

At JK Business School, we prioritize the placement and career development of our students. How is your relationship with the students of your college?

I strive to maintain a strong and positive relationship with the students of JK Business School. I believe in open communication, approachability, and understanding their individual needs and aspirations. I actively engage with students through regular interactions, mentoring sessions, and extracurricular activities. It is important to me that students feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

What are the most important functions in the role that you play in your institute?

As the Dean of Academics, some of the key functions I perform include curriculum development, faculty management, student welfare, academic quality assurance, and fostering industry-academia collaborations. I work closely with the faculty and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality education, promote research and innovation, and create a conducive learning environment for our students.

What are the challenges you have faced as a part of the institute? 

Like any educational institution, we face various challenges such as adapting to changing market dynamics, keeping pace with industry trends, and meeting the expectations of diverse stakeholders. Additionally, ensuring the smooth transition to online and hybrid learning during the pandemic has been a challenge. However, we see these challenges as opportunities for growth and continuously strive to overcome them through proactive measures and strategic planning.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?

I believe in fostering a healthy relationship and environment by promoting open communication, mutual respect, and a collaborative spirit. Encouraging teamwork, providing opportunities for student involvement in decision-making processes, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity are some of the ways we establish a healthy relationship and environment in our institute. Regular feedback mechanisms, counseling support, and extracurricular activities further contribute to a positive and vibrant campus life.

Any suggestions/messages that you would like to give to the current youth? 

To the current youth, I would like to convey that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about developing essential skills, embracing diversity, and becoming responsible global citizens. Take full advantage of the opportunities presented to you and strive for holistic growth. Believe in yourself, stay curious, and never stop learning.
