Mr. Sanjay Sharma is the Head of the Department of PMBGSC. He holds a B.Sc. in Electronics, a PGDSC along with an MCM and an MCA. With 25 years of experience, he has worked in both the industry and academia. He has also worked on developing several models in his area of interest, DBMS.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your Department which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We have several courses in different departments at our college. The latest course is the B.Sc. in Computer Science and the B.Sc. in Information Technology course. These are four year long undergraduate degrees for students who have completed their class 12th in Science with Mathematics. We have a capacity of 300 and 60 seats in each course respectively.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

Our department provides all necessary assistance to complete practical tasks in an efficient and interactive manner. This involves providing a deep insight into the problem and its solution to the students. Thus, we are able to effectively handle all the queries that arise. All the time faculties are available to students for handling their queries.

What are the best practices in the course you’re offering? 

The department is using ICT tools which facilitate students in fast learning. Expert lectures are arranged timely for the student to provide with the latest trends and techniques. Seminars and other tools for the best tools for understanding the subject matter. All of these are arranged for the students for a better understanding of the present computing scenario. This will help them prepare for their future in terms of what to expect and how to be prepared for it.

What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.? 

All of our programs are newly designed by the government of MP as per NEP 2020. We have taken care to shape our programs to be job-oriented by giving our students the necessary technical skills and work skills. Moreover, we have various newly introduced technologies that students use when taking their courses. Our programs cover skill development and current industry-related issues.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future? 

All students have to undergo an intensive training period of internship in all the years in a reputed business organization which produces confidence in them to deal with futuristic challenges. The department also assists them and talks to the related authorities to allow them in their organization. Some organization also provides real-time assistance to them for their betterment and provides deep insight into their organizations.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students? 

All of our faculties are efficient in learning new practices and special training schedules are planned for them. Our faculties also attend refresher and oriented courses timely to upgrade their skills and knowledge. Many of our faculties are also engaged in research for learning newly introduced concepts while several of them are also pursuing their PhDs. The college designs a table which is followed by our department in which adequate time is given for practicals.

How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program? 

A separate career council cell is present in the institute to handle industry connections and related activities. The cell also takes care of the placement and student internships and training. We also have programs organized in the same effort along with industry visits. Prototypes and designs for the industries are developed by the students under the guidance of teachers.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum? 

Upgrading our laboratories and resources is a critical issue for us. Many new resources to introduce in the organization like H/W, and S/W. Our library books as we know technology is changing rapidly. Including them in our institute is an issue but takes time and resources. Moreover, upgrading the teacher's skills is also required so that they can cover the latest topics and issues in the industry.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program? 

We have academic projects developed during our programs because students have vocational subjects in their curriculum and therefore they undergo in detail of the subject they are studying. They take up academic projects in a wide range of relevant topics with assistance from teachers. Various projects which are developed belong to inventory, website, library management, online shopping, and android apps.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

Students who have completed these programs can easily move into various fields like IT, Networking, Cybersecurity and more. Our students have secured jobs in the capacity of Developers, Website Designers, UI/UX Developers, Graphic Designers, and Office Automation positions.
