Woxsen University

You held key positions at various prestigious institutions throughout your career. What is that one thing that made you excited and walk with Woxsen on the journey?

Education has been steadily changing over the years. Things that have been traditionally done in a certain way and which have been successful in the past may not be so successful anymore in the coming times. As a higher education institution, we should not only be able to recognize the changes that are required in the education sector but also lead the way. Woxsen University is leading and shaping the Indian academic scene in many ways, and I wanted to be part of the academic renaissance and that is what attracted me to it.

How do you balance the needs of faculty, students, and administration as a dean of a school of business?

I am an educator first, so I definitely devote some time to reading and enriching my own understanding of what is happening in the academic world. As the Dean, I have a responsibility towards my students and faculty, which includes giving them opportunities for holistic growth. While I try to address their queries, I also try to empower them to make their own decisions and develop a leadership pipeline.

As a Dean of - the School of Business, what is the USP or what are the differentiating factors that make Woxsen stand out from other Business schools?

Woxsen works on five pillars, internationalization, Corporate Connect, Research, Entrepreneurship, and ERS (Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability). We work on each of these in a very focused manner which has helped us achieve so much in such a little time. These are the differentiating factors that make us stand out from all other Business schools.

How do you stay current with the latest trends and developments in the field of business and incorporate them into the curriculum and programs offered by the school?

Our curriculum is regularly updated with input from the industry. The curriculum is both co-created and co-taught with industry experts. We have not only benchmarked our curriculum with international universities, who are also our partners but also invited international professors to teach our students in person. Our students get exposed to international teaching practices, and they also get to jointly work on projects with international students.

How well is Woxsen focusing on maintaining industry relationships with companies in order to leverage them for live projects, training, and placements for the students?

Corporate connectivity is a strength at Woxsen. We have many Executive Fellows from the Industry who mentor students on a regular basis. We have industry mentors who groom them for strong business acumen. Students do social internships with an NGO as well as corporate internships that put them in regular touch with industry practices.

What is something an MBA aspirant can expect from joining the Woxsen School of Business?

An MBA aspirant at Woxsen is expected to work very hard. It is a rigorous program and students are given a range of experiences and opportunities to develop their skills. They will also get opportunities to connect and network with like-minded people in their field.

What are the biggest challenges currently facing schools of business, and how do you plan to address them as the dean?

There is no challenge that we cannot deal with. However, I would like to see students develop their reading habits, writing skills, and critical thinking skills. There are transferrable skills with long-term benefits that will help them in any job and industry they choose. And we are working on each of them diligently to develop these skills.
