Ans. The major role of a teacher is to support learners in their quest for new knowledge on a specified set of subjects. This applies to students of all ages, from graduate to post-graduate learners and creates participatory lesson plans that encompass a wide range of activities to support different learning styles. Ans. A positive student-teacher relationship correlates to a student’s ability to learn, and it improves their behavior. Teachers might teach amazing lessons, but by developing positive relationships with students, teaching efforts will be more successful. Research shows that children learn best in environments with a positive teacher relationship. Teachers should discover student’s interests and passions, their struggles and strengths.
Ques. How do you introduce a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?
Ans. There are great benefits to gain from an industry-focused education that concentrates on both academic and practical skills. For one, graduates have a clear competitive advantage when they apply for jobs. Secondly, this approach is actually fun for both students and teachers. When it comes to motivation, having fun is a core element.
Ques. How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?
Ans. By incorporating active learning into the curriculum, one can transform their classroom into a “real” one with an exciting, dynamic learning environment. Encouraging debates and brainstorming sessions, teaching case-based problem solving exercises, holding group discussions, are all great ways to actively engage students in learning. As such the faculty and the students are very cooperative and ready to take up any challenge. We keep on motivating our students to read reference books and research articles so that they can develop historical imagination but not all students are responsive to the idea of supplementary readings and this becomes a challenge for us sometimes.
Ques. What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?
Ans. In the History department, you can become a Historian, Archaeologist, Archivist, Museum Curator, Asst. Lecturer, History Teacher, Academic Librarian, and Conservation Officer, among other things. History topics are helpful for the preliminary exam as well. This kind of preparation method will help to save a massive amount of time. Choosing a History is a sensible and effective strategy to clear exams.
