What Students Say
Likes
- I like how welcoming everyone is and how the co-op program helps capable students to find internships.
Course Curriculum
- The entire CS program structure was great. As I said, the university has a co-op program; once enrolled in that (students are selected), they help students to prepare their resumes, cover letters, and post job postings on the job boards, which really helps the students to secure an internship. During the final year project, we were introduced to companies and had a chance to impress them. Maybe 3-4 classes a day, but it really depends. For CS core courses, 30-40 students in a lecture room.
Admission Experience
- My previous university in India had a transfer program with a few universities in Australia, Canada, and America. I chose UPEI because it was not very expensive, was built in such a peaceful place, and offered a great program.
Faculty
- The best thing about UPEI is its staff. They are all very approachable and helpful. Everyone has a great knowledge of their subject. 1 professor for a class of 40 students, but they have their meeting hours; you can reach out to them any time.
Campus Life
- There are a lot of clubs that students can join. UPEI organizes job fairs as well. There are opportunities to volunteer.
Part Time Jobs
- There was a course in my program where we had TA opportunities. Other than this, there are always postings for TAs and Administrative assistants (many more).
Placement
- I am not really sure about the percentage. Through internships, networking, or online job portals.
Accommodation
- You can find places to rent on Kijiji (website) very easily - roughly 500 CAD/month in sharing
Exams
- My transfer program had different requirements. A student must have had at least a 7 CGPA out of 10 in their existing program. IELTS score - I think at least an overall score of 7 was required.
Fees
- I would say for an international student, having 6 courses in a semester, 10,000 CAD per semester (1 year has 2 semesters and a summer one also exists, but then you just pay for the course, no international fee (4000 per semester)). Now, it depends on your program duration.
