Academic Qualification

• High School Graduation: Completion of B.C. (British Columbia school system) secondary school or an equivalent qualification.
• Mathematics Requirements: A minimum grade of C in one of the following high school mathematics courses:
  • Principles of Mathematics 11.
  • Foundations of Mathematics 11.
  • Pre-calculus 11.
  • MATH 085: Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry.
  • Alternatively, completion of MATH 094 – Introduction to College Mathematics I and MATH 095 – Introduction to College Mathematics II with a grade of C or higher in both courses is acceptable
• English Language Proficiency:A minimum grade of C in one of the following English courses:
  • CMNS 099 — Communications Foundations.
  • ENGL 099 — English Foundations.
  • ENGL 081 — English Skills 1.
  • ENGL 091 — English Skills 2.
  • ESL WG84 — Writing and Grammar for ESL Students (Level WG84)
• Computer Literacy: Applicants should have basic computer skills, including using Windows, running programs, managing files, and familiarity with the internet, word processing, and spreadsheets.

If you do not currently meet the entry requirements, UFV offers upgrading options:

• Mathematics Upgrading:
  • Completion of MATH 094 (Introduction to College Mathematics I) and MATH 095 (Introduction to College Mathematics II) with a grade of C or higher in both courses.
  • Alternatively, completion of MATH 096 (Foundations of Mathematics) or MATH 110 (Applied College Mathematics) with a grade of C or higher.
• English Upgrading:
  • Completion of CMNS 099 (Communications Foundations) or ENGL 099 (English Foundations) with a grade of C or better.
  • Alternatively, completion of ENGL 081 (English Skills 1) or ENGL 091 (English Skills 2) with a grade of C+ or better, or ESL WG84 (Writing and Grammar for ESL Students) with a grade of C+ or better.

English Language Requirement

• English 12 or equivalent: C+ or higher

• TOEFL iBT: minimum score 80 (no section below 19).

• IELTS Academic: overall 6.0, no band below 5.5.

• Pearson PTE Academic: 56 overall, minimum 52 in Writing.

• Duolingo English Test: 100–109.

• MELAB: 80 or higher.

• CAEL: 60 or higher.

• UFV CPT: score 41 or higher.

• CanTEST: overall 4.0 in Listening, Reading, and Writing.

• Cambridge CAE: grade C or higher.

• Successful completion of 3 years full-time education in English in recognized countries.

• OR completion of courses like ENGL 099, ENGL 081/091 with C+ or better, or ESL WG84 with C+ or better
