Admission is done through state-level nomination by the respective State Health/Medical Directorate of the 7 beneficiary North-Eastern states (Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura). Candidates must apply to their state government, which prepares a merit list and nominates candidates to RIMS. If a state does not nominate candidates by the deadline, the seats are opened to Manipur (host state) candidates.
