PCE B.Tech ECS FAQs
Ques. I have a Diploma in Electronics Engineering. Can I apply for lateral entry into B.Tech ECS at PCE?
Ans. Yes, diploma holders in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or allied branches with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories from Maharashtra) are eligible for Direct Second Year Engineering (DSE) admission into B.Tech ECS at PCE. You will be admitted directly to the 3rd semester (2nd year). Admissions are through the DTE Maharashtra CAP process using MHT CET DSE scores.
Ques. What makes B.Tech ECS different from B.Tech Computer Engineering or B.Tech Electronics at PCE?
Ans. B.Tech ECS is a unique interdisciplinary program that combines both Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. Unlike pure Computer Engineering (which focuses more on software and CS fundamentals) or pure Electronics Engineering (which focuses on circuits and hardware), ECS covers both domains equally. This gives ECS graduates the flexibility to work in embedded systems, IoT, VLSI, software development, AI/ML, and data analytics, and also pursue higher education in either Electronics or CS streams.
Ques. What are the specialization options in B.Tech ECS at PCE?
Ans. The ECS department offers two groups of specializations: Group 1 includes AIML, Data Analytics, High-Performance Computing, and IoT; Group 2 includes Robotics, System Security, Cloud Computing, and VLSI Design. Students can choose their preferred specialization group based on their career interests.
Ques. What is the placement scenario for ECS graduates from PCE?
Ans. ECS graduates from PCE have an outstanding placement record. The highest package recorded is 32 LPA (Srushti Jagtap at Flipkart, Batch 2024). The average package is 5-7 LPA. Notable placements include TATA Communications (5.25 LPA), Dolat Capital (6 LPA), and Newgen (4.25 LPA). Alumni have also gone on to work at Apple (RFIC Layout Engineer) and Qualcomm (Programmer Analyst). Lateral entry students are fully eligible for campus placements.
Ques. Does PCE's ECS department have any industry tie-ups for internships?
Ans. Yes. The ECS department has internship collaborations with Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio, HDFC Ergo, Emerson Global, Newgen Softwares, Edelweiss Fintech, Disney+Hotstar, TATA Power, Maharashtra Cyber Cell, IIT Bombay, and BARC. The college is also an IIT Bombay Remote Center (4-star rated). Lateral entry students benefit from all these industry collaborations equally.
Ques. Can I apply for MahaDBT scholarships as a lateral entry B.Tech ECS student at PCE?
Ans. Yes, lateral entry B.Tech ECS students are eligible for all MahaDBT government scholarship schemes applicable to engineering students in Maharashtra, including OBC, SC/ST fee reimbursement, EBC (Rajashri Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj Scholarship), TFWS, and EWS schemes. Applications must be submitted through the MahaDBT portal. Scholarships are typically processed from the second semester, so students need to pay full fees in the first semester and claim reimbursement thereafter.
