Ques. Is MBA (Operations & Supply Chain Management) a separate programme at KSOM or a specialisation within the general MBA?
Ans. It is a specialisation within the two-year full-time MBA programme at KSOM. In the first year, all MBA students study core management subjects together. In the second year, students choose Operations & Supply Chain Management as their area of concentration by selecting relevant elective courses. Students can also opt for a dual specialisation, such as Operations + Finance or Operations + Business Analytics.
Ques. What kind of roles can I expect after completing MBA in Operations & Supply Chain Management from KSOM?
Ans. Graduates typically take up roles such as Supply Chain Analyst, Operations Manager, Procurement Manager, Logistics Manager, Inventory Planner, and Business Operations Consultant. Sectors that actively hire include manufacturing, e-commerce, FMCG, logistics, IT/ITeS, and consulting. Companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra, Schneider Electric, Tata Power, and Capgemini are among the regular recruiters at KSOM.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation mandatory at KSOM? Can I opt out and stay off-campus?
Ans. The MBA programme at KSOM is a fully residential programme, and hostel accommodation is mandatory for all students. The hostel fee (AC accommodation, mess, and laundry) is included in the total programme fee of Rs. 18,00,620 and cannot be opted out of. Off-campus accommodation is not permitted for MBA students.
Ques. Does an engineering background help in getting into the Operations & Supply Chain specialisation at KSOM?
Ans. While KSOM accepts graduates from any discipline, an engineering background can be advantageous for the Operations & Supply Chain specialisation as it provides a strong quantitative and analytical foundation. However, the programme is designed to be accessible to students from all academic backgrounds, and the first-year curriculum builds the necessary technical and analytical skills for all students.
Ques. What is the difference between KSOM's regular MBA (Operations & Supply Chain) and the Super MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management?
Ans. The regular MBA (Operations & Supply Chain Management) is a two-year full-time programme where students choose Operations as a specialisation in the second year alongside core management subjects. The Super MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is a more specialised, niche two-year programme with a deeper focus exclusively on supply chain and logistics from the start. The Super MBA is designed for students who want a more intensive and industry-specific curriculum in this domain.
Ques. What is the fee payment schedule and are there any loan options available?
Ans. The total fee of Rs. 18,00,620 is payable in five parts: Rs. 1,00,000 at the time of admission (one-time fee), followed by four equal instalments of Rs. 4,25,155 each, payable semester-wise over the two years.
