PIET Diploma Mechanical Engineering FAQs
Ques. Is the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at PIET Panipat a full-time course or can it be done part-time?
Ans. The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at PIET is a full-time, on-campus programme of 3 years duration. It requires regular attendance at the college campus. There is no part-time or distance mode available for this programme at PIET.
Ques. After completing the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from PIET, can I directly get admission into B.Tech 2nd year?
Ans. Yes. Diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering are eligible for lateral entry (LEET) into the 2nd year of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering. PIET itself offers B.Tech Lateral Entry in Mechanical Engineering. Admission is through the HSTES LEET counselling, and candidates must have secured at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in their diploma to be eligible.
Ques. What is the minimum percentage required in Class 10 to get admission to the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at PIET?

Students seeking higher packages are generally advised to pursue B.Tech via lateral entry after completing the diploma.
Ques. What is the hostel fee at PIET Panipat for Diploma students, and is it mandatory?
Ans. Hostel at PIET is not mandatory and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The hostel fee ranges from Rs. 80,000 per year (four-sharing standard room) to Rs. 1,40,000 per year (two-sharing AC room). For girls hostel, an additional Rs. 8,000 per year is charged for rooms with attached bathrooms. Hostel charges are subject to change each year.
Ques. Can students from outside Haryana apply for the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at PIET Panipat through HSTES counselling?
Ans. Yes. 15% of the sanctioned intake falls under the Rest of Haryana Category (All India Category - AIC/RoHC) which is open to candidates from all states. The remaining 85% of seats are under the State Quota reserved for Haryana domicile candidates.
