Ultraviolet light, commonly referred to as UV light is a type of electromagnetic radiation that has shorter wavelengths than visible light.

  • The wavelength of ultraviolet light ranges from 10 nm to 400 nm and its frequency ranges from 8 x 1014 Hz to 3 x 1016 Hz.
  • The major source of ultraviolet radiation on the surface of the earth is the sun.

As a result of these processes, the amount of ozone in the stratosphere increases.
