What Students Say
Likes
- I was specifically interested to work with this particular professor and project as that is the key focus of my research goals.
- A research friendly environment is provided along with an opportunity to attend a wide range of courses to widen your expertise. The university has a student council providing a wide range of activates out of the routine to network.
Dislikes
- The procedure to register and process requests is a bit time taking. More than the university, I believe it is an overall issue observed within Germany. Be prepared for this before you plan to move to Dresden.
Overall it is a wonderful multicultural experience. It is a bit weird in the initial days as you try to sink into the environment here. Once you are in the mode, it is very comfortable.
Course Curriculum
Very relevant. Opportunities to discuss with a lot of startups to evaluate the industrial transfer.
Faculty
1:50, the faculty and staff are very friendly. However, there might occur an event where you disagree with each other. It is key to understand that such things are inevitable.
Campus Life
WiFi is connected via eduroam so that you can connect to internet even when you travel to another university in the EU or USA. Library, sports facilities and clubs are great. It is just that you need to show particular interest and participate voluntarily.
Placement
Very good. However, it depends on how well you promote yourself and network. There are summer school opportunities and specific to my field, Dresden is the hub. As the university sometimes organizes career events, we get a chance to visit the companies.
Accommodation
I live in an individual studio apartment. Overall monthly costs sum upto 900 euros.
Exams
As I applied for a PhD position, the primary requirements are to have a Masters in the relative field. SOP, LOR, CV, Cover letter. Very important to include your expertise in the related field in your CV and your interests in detail in the SOP. The cover letter needs to highlight the key points that can attract the hiring to team to review your application. Two rounds. Be well prepared by having a look at the interviewers profile as the questions will mostly be based on their recent work experience.
Fees
2400 euros
Scholarship
No. However, I applied for a Research Associate position which is a paid contract.
