How is Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology?

I think NIET stands out among private engineering colleges for several reasons. It's the only engineering school in Greater Noida that has recognition from major government bodies like NIRF, NBA, and NAAC with an A grade. Plus, many successful IAS officers, like Sana Akhtar Siddiqui (AIR-90) and Himanshu Tripathi, have come from here.

NIET was also the first private college to get recognized for its focus on academics and placements. It introduced the Pyramid Finishing School for pre-placement training, which other colleges later copied. Unlike other colleges that charge 10k to 20k for placement training, NIET offers this training at no extra cost.

When it comes to the latest technologies, NIET often leads the way. It was the first to bring in things like the Microsoft Innovation Centre, robotics, Mercedes training, and offers free in-house training by top trainers. The college ensures students are well-prepared for industry needs.

I attended the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology from 2009 to 2013, studying engineering in the EN branch. Thanks to the campus placement program, I landed a job with TCS and now work in their Chennai office.

NIET ranks among the top 20 colleges under UPTU. It's a decent college, and if you excel academically, you'll definitely find it beneficial.

Here are some positives about the college:

• The academic atmosphere is good and disciplined, with everything organized systematically.
• They have labs for all the practical activities.
• While you might not do anything groundbreaking, there's plenty to learn about basic engineering practices.
• Not all the faculty members are highly qualified, but you’ll find some professors who can truly inspire you, including a few who have studied at IITs.
• The placement activities are helpful, guiding students on the interview process and preparation.
• I found this program really useful.

Now, for some downsides:

• The campus placements mainly attract software and IT companies, so if you're in mechanical or electrical engineering, don’t expect many core company job offers.
• The environment is typical of a private college, so don't look for much in the way of innovative activities.
• However, if you have the drive to do something creative, you might find support.
• Only about a quarter of the students who get placed receive good job packages, while others end up with average roles.
• Even BPO companies come for placements.

In summary, if your entrance exam rank is average and you're seeking the best among the lesser-known options, NIET could be a good choice.

Being a student at a private engineering college like NIET in Noida can be quite frustrating. If you're hoping to showcase your cultural or extracurricular talents, you might be disappointed because the college doesn't really prioritize these areas. Their main focus is on helping you do well in university exams and securing a job, but the placements might not meet your expectations; it's mostly just to tick a box.

The administration isn't very helpful or polite, often ignoring student concerns. This can be really annoying for students attending NIET. I would recommend looking into other colleges instead of settling for NIET. The placement figures they advertise aren't very reliable, as the jobs offered aren't great. From my personal experience, I can't really recommend this college.
