The academics at IIIT Allahabad are solid, but the college seems to put all its attention on studies. There's not much room for co-curricular activities. Rather than supporting students to join in sports or cultural events, the college management often discourages them from participating in such activities at other colleges.
IIIT Allahabad is quite impressive, earning a full five-star rating from me. One thing I really like is the way they've set up their courses. They're streamlined and focused. For instance, IT students don't have to take Chemistry in their first semester, and Physics isn't required in the second. This really frees up time for students to dive into the subjects they are passionate about.
From the start, students use an ONLINE JUDGE for submitting assignments, which helps them get comfortable with this process early on. Plus, the campus is fully air-conditioned, except for the hostels where only the dining area has AC. High-speed internet is available everywhere, with LAN connections in rooms and campus-wide wifi, making it a tech-friendly environment.
In my view, IIIT Allahabad is a great place for students who are self-driven and can learn new technologies independently. The faculty situation, however, isn't the best. Sitting through classes can be really tough, especially with the 80% minimum attendance rule, which makes it even harder. It often feels like a lot of time is wasted because it's difficult to focus when someone is loudly talking at the front.
But don't get me wrong, the infrastructure here is impressive, and things are generally well organized. We've been proud hosts of the prestigious Science Conclave for four years in a row. The seniors and alumni have done a fantastic job in creating a strong coding culture, giving us a solid and competitive environment to thrive in.
