Ive wanted to join AI in Chennai Institute of Technology but all the reviews about the college seems to be forced to look good. Is this a scam or is it really that good?

I joined the Electrical and Electronics Engineering course at CIT because I was interested in the field. The curriculum is good and emphasizes both theoretical and practical knowledge, which helps in projects and internships. Many students are eligible for placements from the 6th semester, and companies like TCS and HCL come for recruitment. The highest package reported is around 52 LPA, which is impressive. The college also offers scholarships for students based on their performance. So, the positive reviews I’ve seen about the college are quite accurate based on my experiences.

Colleges often try to show their best side with bright pictures, fancy websites, and sometimes overly positive reviews. It's not really a scam; it's just marketing. To get a true sense of how good a college is, you should check the NIRF rankings for 2022. If a college ranks below 100, like SSN, VIT, SRM, or CEG MIT, it's top-notch. A ranking between 101-200 means it's pretty good, 201-250 is average, and above 250 is just okay. Besides that, talking to seniors who studied there can give you a better idea before you decide.

I chose Mechanical Engineering at Chennai Institute of Technology mainly because the college offers good placements and a solid curriculum. The faculty is quite knowledgeable, and they guide us well throughout the course. The placement percentage is around 95%, with companies like Tech Mahindra visiting for recruitment. The fee structure includes around 150,000 per year, which is manageable. Overall, I wouldn’t say it’s a scam; if you work hard, you can get decent opportunities here.

CIT Chennai is definitely not a good choice and is often described as a problematic college in the city. It's best to steer clear of it. The person in charge, Sriram, acts more like a local thug than a proper chairman, and many people consider him to be dishonest. The teachers are rumored to have issues with drinking and smoking, and students often face both mental and physical harassment. As for the glowing reviews, many are supposedly bought, and students are encouraged to write them in exchange for better internal marks. It's wise to keep your distance from this place.

Honestly, I think Chennai Institute of Technology is a decent college if you're interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering. I am studying Computer Science and Engineering here and I can say the faculty is really supportive. They focus on practical applications and provide many internship opportunities. For example, I got an internship offer from L&T Technology Services.

The placement stats are also quite good; in my batch, placements start from the 5th semester and many companies visit, offering packages ranging from 3.5 LPA to 51 LPA. So, it’s not a scam; it’s just that students need to put in their effort to get good results.
