If you believe that trying again will get you into a better institute, then go for it. But if not, focus on making the most out of your time at IIM R. I'll leave you with some inspiring words from Ghalib. Go ahead and make your decision without wondering "What if." Best of luck!
Honestly, my experience at IIM Ranchi has been quite enriching. The curriculum is extensive and covers everything from finance to marketing, which really prepares you for the corporate world. The campus life is vibrant with lots of activities and competitions, and the hostel facilities are decent too.
The placements are great, and many friends of mine have secured good packages. If you're confident about your decision to withdraw and believe you can achieve a better score or get into a different program that suits you more, then go for it. Just ensure you weigh the pros and cons of staying versus leaving.
IIM Ranchi has a very rigorous MBA program that covers all aspects of business. The professors are knowledgeable and use case studies to help us understand real-world business problems. I found the internship opportunities to be plentiful, with major companies like ICICI Bank and Samsung coming to recruit. Placements are also quite strong, with an average package around 18 LPA.
If you feel like you can do better after a year of preparation, that could be a good reason to withdraw and try again, but I’d definitely consider the resources and opportunities you might miss out on this year.
I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I received calls from 16 IIMs and had my sights set on Lucknow, Kozhikode, or Indore. Unfortunately, I didn’t even make it to their waitlist. As a fresher without a job, I managed to convert a few calls this year but am still considering trying one more time. I’m aware that this year might be tougher with more people applying for MBAs due to the economic downturn. Job prospects are uncertain, but I’m determined to give it another go. If you’ve got a job lined up, you’re in a good spot to consider another CAT attempt, in my view.
Regarding IIM Ranchi, it’s a solid choice. It’s among the fastest-growing of the newer IIMs. A senior of mine is currently studying there and has landed an internship with Asian Paints. Ultimately, it’s your decision. If you believe you can aim higher and secure a spot at one of the older IIMs, then preparing for CAT 2020 might be the way to go.
IIM Ranchi is a solid choice if you're looking at an MBA, especially in HR. The curriculum is designed to give you a good mix of theory and practical experience, which is super helpful. The faculty are really qualified and have industry experience, which makes learning more relevant. Plus, the placement record is impressive—100% placement every year and big companies like Flipkart and Tata Steel come for internships and final placements. If you feel like you want to repeat, make sure it’s a decision based on what you think you can achieve next time around because the opportunities here are great.
