How is Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology?

I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering at VIIT, and I feel the curriculum is well-structured and relevant. The teaching staff is helpful, and many have extensive experience in the field. There are two exams each semester, and while they can be challenging, they are also manageable with the right preparations.

Regarding placements, the college has a good track record, with around 80% of students getting placed. The highest package reported was around 11.4 LPA, which is impressive. The campus life could be better, but the annual fest, Gandharva, is a highlight of the year.

As a student in the Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering at VIIT, I can say that the faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, which really helps during projects and exams. The course curriculum is aligned with industry standards and includes some of the latest technologies.

We have a couple of exams each semester, and they are of moderate difficulty. The internship opportunities are pretty good; many companies like Amazon and Cognizant come to recruit. The average package for placements is around 8-9 LPA, which is quite encouraging for us as we prepare for our careers.

The professors there are fantastic; they're approachable and very supportive, ready to share all the knowledge you need. The college also hosts excellent teams, like TRF for robotics, which has performed well at national competitions like Robocon, BAJA for mechanical students, and GCC for computer science, to name a few. You'll find plenty of opportunities to gain exposure in various fields.

The campus isn't the largest compared to other colleges, and you'll notice that once you step inside. There are four main buildings, each dedicated to different branches of study.

The Buildings:

• Each branch gets its own building.
• First building: FE, CS, IT
• Second building: Electronics, ENTC, Industrial
• Third building: Mechanical, Production
• Fourth building: Chemical

The Classrooms:
Most classrooms are spacious, well-lit, and have good ventilation, so even during occasional power cuts (which happen a few times each semester but aren't much trouble), you're comfortable.

The Study Areas:

• Library: Located in the third building. It's a fantastic library with all the books you'll need over four years, plus some novels and other reads. The librarian is strict, and there's a strict no-mobile rule for complete silence.
• Reading Hall: Found in the second building, this is the spot to study with friends and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. It's like a library but without the rules.

For Food:

• a) The canteen has a limited menu with about 20 items, including vada pav, samosas, misal, two types of parathas, omelets, boiled eggs, dal tadka, a few sabzis, noodles, schezwan rice, chapati, rotis, and some cold drinks (not always available).
• b) Fruit Centre (FC) is more like a small, crowded canteen but offers more variety than the main canteen. You can find sandwiches, patties, and a variety of fruit juices. The food here is quite good, though the menu is still somewhat limited.
• c) NPB (New Poona Bakery) is on campus, offering cakes, sandwiches, doughnuts, and more.

Outside the college, there are plenty of places to eat and hang out, like Kalubai Farsan Centre, Khau galli, and Chintamani Hotel, among others.

Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology is considered one of the top engineering colleges in Pune. Sure, it has a few issues, but don’t all schools have some drawbacks? Here are a few great things about it:

• The institute is linked to Pune University, a respected name, but it also enjoys autonomy, which means more freedom with the curriculum and exams.
• They use a relative grading system, so students often end up with higher average percentages compared to those in colleges strictly following the Pune University system.
• You get longer vacations and fewer daily class hours, giving students the chance to take on internships or prepare for further studies.
• Many companies visit for campus placements, which means lots of job opportunities for students.

I noticed some of the previous answers might have misunderstood your question about VIIT, not VIT. It's a common mix-up, so no worries. When I first checked out Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology for admissions in 2014, the infrastructure really surprised me—it wasn't great at the time. Initially, I felt a bit let down, but the quality of education and the faculty, especially in the Electronics, Computer, and IT departments, turned out to be excellent. Since then, the infrastructure has seen significant improvements, and they're still working on it.
