Grant Medical College in Mumbai has been a great choice for my MBBS journey. The faculty here is quite experienced, with a good student-faculty ratio, which means I can get the help I need whenever I have doubts.

The exams occur every 3-4 months, and while they can be a bit challenging, they help me stay on my toes academically. The internship is mandatory after the final year exams, and I appreciate that we get a stipend of around 10,000 per month while we learn under the guidance of resident doctors.

Overall, I feel well-prepared for my future in medicine.

As a student at Grant Government Medical College, I naturally have a lot of love for it. But let's take a step back and look at it from an outsider's perspective:

  • CAMPUS - The college sits on a huge 44-45 acre campus in Mumbai, which is quite rare. No other medical college in the city has such a vast area. The campus includes Grant Government Medical College, JJ Nursing College, and JJ Hospital.
  • RESIDENTIAL AREA - There are two separate buildings for the teaching staff and an area for non-teaching staff. Male undergraduates have two hostels, while female undergraduates have their own separate hostel. Postgraduate students have a building called 300, and nursing students also have their own hostel. So, there are plenty of residential facilities available.
  • CANTEEN - The main canteen is open to everyone including students, staff, and patient relatives, operating from Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 10:30 PM. There’s a RM BHATT canteen for undergraduate boys on the ground floor of their hostel, a canteen for girls in their hostel, and a PG canteen on the second floor of the 300 building. So, there are 3-4 clean and hygienic canteens around.
  • LIBRARY - A large central library is located near the central canteen for any JJ medical student to use. There are also separate libraries in both the boys' and girls' hostels on the ground floor.
  • GROUNDS - There is a kabaddi ground in front of the physiology department.

Studying MBBS at Grant Medical College has been insightful. The course structure is quite rigorous, and I appreciate that we start clinical postings from the second year. The exams are frequent, which keeps us focused. The faculty members are approachable, and they make learning enjoyable.

The internship is where we really get to apply what we've learned, and the stipend of 10,000 helps a lot. Campus life is vibrant with numerous events and activities that balance out the academic pressure nicely.

I chose Grant Medical College for my MBBS because of its reputation and the quality of education. The curriculum is designed to equip us with both theoretical and practical knowledge, which is crucial in this field. The faculty is supportive, and they genuinely care about our learning. I also enjoy campus life, especially the various cultural fests like Astitva and Antarang. The internship, which is compulsory and paid, allows me to gain hands-on experience in our college's affiliated hospitals, making this an enriching experience.
