I can’t comment on what other IITs offer in their MBA programs, but I can share insights from the MBA program at IIT Kanpur over the past one and a half years. Here are some common concerns addressed:

1. Placements:
While I can't disclose all placement figures, I can say that students were placed within just 5 days, achieving an average package of around 9.8 LPA and a median of about 9 LPA. Companies recruiting included Amazon, LAVA International, Deloitte, ITC Infotech, and others in the same league.

2. International Tie-ups:
IIT Kanpur has numerous partnerships with foreign universities, providing various programs to apply for. There are opportunities like international exchange programs; for instance, I participated in one in Japan, fully funded by the Japanese government. Such programs are available based on your interests, and international internships and placements are offered by companies like Mitsui Chemicals, which is one of our regular recruiters.

3. Return on Investment:

Final placements at old IIT MBA programs are significantly better than those at all baby and second-generation IIMs, and even some first-generation IIMs like Indore, Shillong, and Kozhikode!

To address this question, we first need to clarify which other ‘reputed’ management colleges you’re referring to. If you mean the IIMs and other B-schools that rank in the top 20 or top 30 in India, then those are definitely worth considering.

However, there are 7 IITs offering an MBA: IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT-ISM Dhanbad. And guess how many of these colleges made it into the top 30 B-schools according to the NIRF ranking 2020? ALL of them! These institutions outperform many other B-schools!

DoMS IIT Delhi, SJMSOM (IIT Bombay), and VGSOM (IIT Kharagpur) are among the best B-schools you can attend, with placements that often exceed those of many new IIMs and other private B-schools. Let’s take a look at the placement statistics for all the IITs.

DoMS IIT Delhi:

  • NIRF Ranking 2020: 8
  • Fees: Rs 9.6 lakhs
  • Highest CTC: Rs 32 LPA
  • Average CTC: Rs 18.47 LPA

SJSoM IIT Bombay:

  • NIRF Ranking 2020: 11
  • Fees: Rs 8.73 lakhs
  • Highest CTC: Rs 32.4 LPA
  • Average CTC: Rs 20.8 LPA

VGSoM IIT Kharagpur:

I’m currently pursuing my MBA at IIT Delhi, and it’s been an eye-opening experience. The average package is about 25 lakhs, with top students even getting offers of 45 lakhs CTC. The placement scene is vibrant, with the Big 5 consulting firms regularly visiting our campus. It makes the pressure of internships feel worthwhile!

The average package for MBA/PGDM students at IIT Delhi is around 25 lakhs, with the highest package reaching an impressive 45 lakhs CTC. The placement record is 100%, which is quite motivating for us. Companies like Accenture and BCG actively recruit, offering internships that start at 1 lakh per month. I'm excited about the opportunities here!
