IITs/NITs are great because they attract intelligent peers. At UEM, if you want to bounce back from past mistakes (like a low rank in entrance exams), UEM will definitely provide the opportunities.

• (1) Better Infrastructure: The campus may be small, but they manage to fit all the essential sections that an engineering college should have.
• (2) Decent Labs: The labs for Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, and Electronics are significantly better than those at many other colleges in West Bengal.
• (3) Strict Restrictions: I believe rules and restrictions are crucial for maintaining a proper flow in life.
• (4) Some Amazing Faculties (63%): Trust me, some faculty members are truly exceptional (many hold PhDs and are actively pursuing research). Check out their profiles on LinkedIn!

Yes, you should definitely consider joining UEM Kolkata in the CSE department if the following points resonate with you:

• You want to be fully dedicated to your studies. This is a full-fledged university, so WBUT questions won’t be a factor here. You’ll need to put in significant effort to score well in the semester.
• You will maintain at least 80% attendance in college.
• You are eager to learn from some of the best professors in West Bengal.
• You are willing to participate in frequent workshops and seminars.
• You are prepared to live a strict and disciplined life.
• You are ready to sacrifice outdoor sports. (Indoor sports facilities are good, though!)
• You are okay with wearing a college uniform like IEM students do.

Now, you should NOT join UEM Kolkata if the following points apply to you, as you won’t find these things at UEM Kolkata:

• You want a relaxed college life.
• You do not wish to live a strict and disciplined life.
• You want to skip classes. If that’s the case, your parents will be notified by email and SMS.
• You do not want to attend assembly like in schools. (IEM has assembly too, by the way.)
• You do not want to submit your assignments and lab reports on time.
• You believe you can pass the semester by cramming the night before.

When I joined the college, I felt like a total loser. I used to memorize programs and was terrified of coding. This was in 2015.

Now, in my second year, I absolutely love coding! There’s nothing I’ve had to memorize in the last two years. The faculty members are outstanding—not just because they are highly qualified, but because they are incredibly passionate and dedicated. They strive to instill that same passion in us.

We have regular classes. In two years, we’ve never missed a class for any reason. Faculty members even hold extra classes to ensure the syllabus is covered, prioritizing our understanding of the material.

They say to grab every opportunity that comes your way, and our faculty ensures we do just that. They understand the importance of updating our skill sets, so we have special workshops arranged for that purpose.

There’s also fantastic scope for Research and Development. I published a paper in my first year and secured an internship early on, all thanks to the guidance from my professors.

So if you’re considering CSE at UEM Kolkata, go for it!
