This isn't a hypothetical answer. I'm currently studying at UEM Kolkata, so this response includes valid points about the university.
First, let’s clarify: UEM doesn’t have a super tough admission process (10th 60%, 12th 60% with PCM, and a valid rank in WBJEE/IEMJEE/JEE Main will secure you a seat). However, I believe UEM has the potential to transform an average student into an extraordinary one (I'll elaborate on this later).
IITs/NITs are great because they attract intelligent peers. At UEM, if you want to bounce back from past mistakes (like a low rank in entrance exams), UEM will definitely provide the opportunities.
PROS:
Yes, you should definitely consider joining UEM Kolkata in the CSE department if the following points resonate with you:
Now, you should NOT join UEM Kolkata if the following points apply to you, as you won’t find these things at UEM Kolkata:
I’ll share my experience with CSE from UEM Kolkata.
When I joined the college, I felt like a total loser. I used to memorize programs and was terrified of coding. This was in 2015.
Now, in my second year, I absolutely love coding! There’s nothing I’ve had to memorize in the last two years. The faculty members are outstanding—not just because they are highly qualified, but because they are incredibly passionate and dedicated. They strive to instill that same passion in us.
We have regular classes. In two years, we’ve never missed a class for any reason. Faculty members even hold extra classes to ensure the syllabus is covered, prioritizing our understanding of the material.
They say to grab every opportunity that comes your way, and our faculty ensures we do just that. They understand the importance of updating our skill sets, so we have special workshops arranged for that purpose.
There’s also fantastic scope for Research and Development. I published a paper in my first year and secured an internship early on, all thanks to the guidance from my professors.
So if you’re considering CSE at UEM Kolkata, go for it!
From what I've researched, UEM Kolkata's B.Tech in Computer Science and Technology seems to have an edge over Adamas University's B.Tech in Biotechnology when it comes to placements and internships. UEM has a strong career development cell that prepares students for campus placements starting from the 7th semester, with a placement rate above 90%. In contrast, while Adamas University also provides internship opportunities, the emphasis on placements isn't as strong, and many students, including myself, are still looking for internships.
If you're leaning towards a more tech-focused career with better job prospects, I'd recommend UEM Kolkata. However, if you have a passion for biology and technology and are considering higher studies, Adamas University could be a good fit for you.
Adamas University Kolkata for B.Tech Biotechnology offers a strong faculty with many professors holding advanced degrees, which is great for those interested in research and a blend of biology and technology. However, the campus life, while vibrant with fests and clubs, is a bit pricier. On the other hand, UEM Kolkata for B.Tech Computer Science and Technology also has solid faculty and a good internship program, plus a more moderate fee structure. The campus life here is lively with various events and a decent student-to-faculty ratio. If you're passionate about tech and prefer a more affordable option, UEM Kolkata might be the better pick, but if you're leaning towards biotech and research opportunities, Adamas could be your go-to choice.
