Remarks

The main pros is placements. Others pros includes studying in one of reputed college with great alumni network and proper industrial exposure. Cons includes SASTRA lies in a rural place even though it is well connected through buses. Other cons are quality of hostel food and hostel curfews.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The overall curriculum is good. The course offered is Bachelor in Technology (B.tech) and not bachelors in engineering (B.E). The major difference between B.Tech and B.E is B.Tech is skill oriented degree whereas a B.E is subject/concept oriented degree. All IITs offer B.Tech degree and not B.E. The course structure is good but can improvise slightly on latest practices.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements is probably the best perk about studying in SASTRA. Almost everyone except those who opt out of placements gets placed. Majority of students gets placed in IT companies however considerable numbers gets placed in their core engineering fields and other fields like teaching and management roles too. Average package of a year would stand between 3.5 to 4 lpa. For Top 25 percent the package would be around 6 lpa. Internships are also offered both by college management as well students organized events. Students organized events offer internships are mainly associated with startups.

College Events

4

SASTRA organizes a lot of events Cultural fests includes Carpe diem - Intra college cultural festival Kuruksastra - Inter college cultural festival which is one the the best college culturals after Festember of NIT Trichy. Technical fests includes Daksh utsav - Intra college technical fest Daksh - Inter college technical fest Besides these two events every department has its own technical symposium organized every year with workshops and technical talks. Sports fests includes Feura - Intra college sports fest Colloseum - Inter college sports fest

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees is relatively less when compared to other private universities. However in recent years there have been steep increase in semester fees. Even after the increase, the fees is relatively 30 to 40 percent less than other private universities. Hostel accommodation fees and mess bills are very nominal and would be around 3500 per month roughly.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are offered by college management. Students who fall under Dean's merit list are refunded with 100 percent hostel funds. All scholarships are purely based on merit and not any extra curricular activities. There are other scholarships offered by externals and companies but is very rare.

Campus Life

4

Lab facilities are really well equipped and few companies have set up their research facility in SASTRA. Beside academics SASTRA is a place which has lot of scope for extra curricular activities such as Arts, NSS, NCC and other cultural and sports events. SASTRA organizes a lot of events Cultural fests includes Carpe diem - Intra college cultural festival Kuruksastra - Inter college cultural festival which is one the the best college culturals after Festember of NIT Trichy. Technical fests includes Daksh utsav - Intra college technical fest Daksh - Inter college technical fest Besides these two events every department has its own technical symposium organized every year with workshops and technical talks. Sports fests includes Feura - Intra college sports fest Colloseum - Inter college sports fest

Hostel Facilities

3

SASTRA has good hostel facilities with vegetarian food. Hostel rooms comes with a flexibility of single, two sharing, four sharing and maximum of six sharing. Wifi comes as a perk whereas the food comes as con. Hostel accommodation fees and mess bills are very nominal and would be around 3500 per month roughly.

Alumni/Alumna

SASTRA connect is a medium that offers a alumni connect network. It is available in SASTRA website. There are student organized alumni events in college which happens once in few years. Alumni in general tend to get together during cultural fest Kuruksastra.

Admission

There are two streams by which one can get admission. Stream one is through JEE mains score and state board marks taken in certain proportion, which may vary from year to year Stream two is purely based on state board marks. Students will be ranked based on their scores and will be called for counseling based on their ranks seperately for each streams. No community wise quota system.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the faculties are good with some amount of work experience in the fields of engineering besides teaching experience. Few have very good experience in the field, who drives you through the tough concepts with such ease and clarity.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
