Nirma- A costlier but better stage for engineering

If you're talking about education and the platform, Nirma is one of the best institute for engineering. The exposure to soft skills is good and it takes you to another level of technical knowledge. But if you look at the other side, the weightage of practical knowledge should be more in these competitive world. That is one the cons. And one other disadvantage is attendance. Nirma is having 85% compulsory attendance which doesn't help at all while doing other extra curricular activities. Also it is costly compared to the facilities provided.

The course curriculum covers whole technical knowledge about the stream you're taking. Some extra specialization courses are there for particular field. Also Institute is providing some department electives and institute elective courses to get knowledge about the courses of different departments and institutes of students'interest. Institute is having continuous evaluation throughout the semester. Exam structure contains 3 components. Continuous Evaluation, LPW and Semester End. In continuous Evaluation, class tests, Mid-sem and Innovative assignments are there. LPW is containing Lab-Practical-Workshop. Semester End Examination is written exam for particular course. In total marks, 40% marks are from Continuous Evaluation, 20% of LPW and 40% of Semester End.

Nirma is having its own III cell which looks after Internships and Placements. For mechanical, for year 2019, most of the Students got placements in one or other known companies. Approximately 75% of the students got placed which is satisfying. For mechanical engineering, college doesn't provide internship.

Nirma is having different kind of technical and cultural events whole year like Vaudeville, NU-TECH, Sports day, Convocation, Foundation Day celebration etc. In addition to that, approximately 15 different clubs which are having different kinds of events whole year. Some of them are also of national level.

I would say the fee structure is expensive because in 2019, the fee of institute was almost 1.8 Lacs per year and also if you want to use University Bus then you have to pay other 10000 rupees. The quality of infrastructure could have been better for these much amount of fees.

The Institute is providing 2 kind of scholarships. Merit and Merit cum means. They are having different criterias to be applicable for. Maximum scholarship you can get is Rs.90000 per annum. Top 5% of the students from every field will be getting this scholarship. I was eligible but I couldn'tn't availed because of document requirements. There is no loan facility.

University is having different kind of events which includes cultural, technical and sports events as extracurricular activities. Other than that there are labs and practicals for the subjects which requires it. The extra curricular activities and sports activitiesare upto the mark but labs and practical quality could've been better. Some of the equipments are not there and some of them are not performing satisfactory.

No hostel facility is there for Undergraduates. Hostels are there for post graduating students. Girls and boys hostels are different. Both AC and Non AC rooms are available. Overall the facility is good. Not knowing about the food facility. The laundry facility is available which is helpful.

All the alumnis are connected through Alma-Connect and they help when needed. They guide for projects and research. They help for further studies before and even after the admission. Also they help in finding a job. Although I hadn't needed any help, other Students can describe more.

Nirma have 3 components for admission. 50% seats are filled by ACPC which is commission of Gujarat engineering admissions. 35% seats are based on All India Rank of JEE mains and for that, you've to fill a online form which are issued by Nirma. Remaining 15% seats are for NRI and Gulf qouta. I got admission from ACPC.

Talking about the faculties, many of them are having PHD in their respective field. So they are having a vast knowledge of their areas. Faculties are practical in nature and also they guide well. Not only in curriculum but also in real life, they're helpful. On the contrary, some of them needs to change their way of teaching.
