Nirma has achieved 1st rank in Robocon for last 3-4 years in the country. The team works on the making of robots also goes to the international level. The team E-baja works on the electric vehicles and also ranked in the country.
Course Curriculum Overview
All type of major engineering courses: computer science, electrical, electronics, Instrument & control, chemical, mechanical, civil are there. Except that courses of law, architecture, pharmacy, science, management are also there. There are three exams per semester. Class test(30M), sessional (40M), finals(100M). All exam marks+ assignments + project marks are counted in final result.
Placement Experience
Nirma is one of the best colleges in the state in highest level of placement scenario. Although not every branch has good placement but it's more than any other colleges in state. CSE branch has the highest placement. Civil has the lowest. Average of the placement is around 6 to 7 lakhs annum.
College Events
There are many technical & non-technical events organised by different clubs in the university. Clubs like RCNI, ISTE, AUGUN IL² etc organise non technical events and EESA, MESA organise technical events. Some of the popular events are Praveg, NU-TECH, Vaudeville, Scintilla etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees are very expensive for any middle class family to afford. I'm also from a middle class family, but my parents had a long time plan since I was in the primary school. Without planning of money, a normal family student cannot afford it.
Fees and Financial Aid
Gujarat students get MYSY scholarship if their marks in 12 is more than 80% percentile & their parents' income is less than 6 lakhs annum. The total scholarship is 67000 Rs each year. Other than that, the college also provide scholarship to top 25 students worth 90000 Rs.
Campus Life
In extracurricular activities, the university has assigned special professors to do the job. They manage the activities like cricket tournament, chess tournament, badminton tournament etc. Labs have equipment which can fulfill students' growth. One can also work in lab on their own projects with permission.
Hostel Facilities
Unfortunately there is no hostel for B.Tech students in the university. I live in the private hostel called Hiramani hostel just opposite of the university. It also costs more than normal rent because Ahmedabad is a hi-fi city in Gujarat. Hostel is average in facilities. Food quality is very poor.
Alumni/Alumna
The university calls alumni every year to talk with their juniors. Their experience is very helpful to us. From all fields they come. Like management, masters, job professional, migrated to other countries etc.
Admission
I am from Gujarat, the state where the university is located. 50% students are selected from Gujarat by GSHSB+GUJCET marks. This admission process is called ACPC. Other 35% students are selected based on JEE marks & other 15% students are NRIs. I got admission via ACPC process.
Faculty
Faculties are very broad minded and always eager to help students in their personal tasks also. They are always ready for any help needed whether it is related upon the course or it's students' personal matter.
