My story landing up at IIT Kanpur

According to me I made the best choice of coming here. It's like a dream college for me. It not only has a good academics but also provides with a good social life. It's a clean and green campus with over 1100 acres. Peacocks adds more beauty to our campus. No wonder that we have cycles to move within campus.

So during 1st year all the subjects are common irrespective of branch so as to give an overview of everybranch to everyone. And then from second year we have branch subjects. We have quizzes ,midsem then again quiz and then endsems. That's the exam structure.

Last year the placements were 75% success which were the best among any institute in India. And yes college provides internships also. I am a 3rd year student and is preparing for a non core sector , and I have got an Intern at Axis bank as a role of Data Science Engineer. My intern will be for 2 months from May to July 2020. I am getting a stippened of 50k per month. Many more reputed and multinational companies came here to hire students for an intern. Few of them are Gartner, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft,Google,Samsung,MasterCard, American Express,Rubrik,Mitsubishi,etc. And stippened varies from company to company. Few give approx 1.5 lakh per month like ITC and HUL. Gartner gave 1.2 lakh per month and MasterCard gave 75k per month. Stippened varies from 20k to 2lakh per month.

We have Antaragni the cultural fest. It is one of the biggest college cultural fest of Asia. TECHKRITI the technical fest Udghosh the sports fest There a event called E-summit which invites verious successful entrepreneurs across India. All these tests invite students and participants from different colleges across India.

Fee structure for Btech students is 1.2 lakh per semester. This includes hostel fee as well as academic fees.Then we have 15k mess fees per semester. Institute offers scholarships for those students who are from poor background. So over all fees here is feasible in comparison to other Private colleges of India

Institute provides scholarships for those whose family income is less than 6lakh per annum and has a cgpa of 6. Also scholarships are for meritious students who secured jee advanced rank under 1000.

We have almost every type of sport which is being played here. Be it swimming, badminton,cricket,squash, football,basket, hockey,etc. We too have Olympic size swimming pool here , wooden basketball and badminton courts. We have excellent labs here with almost all the latest equipments. Being in a civil engineering I must say that we are provided with great exposure through labs.

During my stay at hostel I was to share a room with 2 more students during my 1st year. During my 2nd year I was to share my room with 1 student. And now I am in 3 rd year I am living in a single room though the size of the room was a bit smaller than the regular one during my 1st and 2nd year.

One of the reason I choose IITK is because of its strong alumni network. We have many alumnis with their successful startups who eventually comes to hire students from IITs for inters and placementa. One of the example is Nobroker.com. And many of them are in multinational companiesat reputed positions.

So there was an entrance exam called her Mains and advanced. So first I appeared for jee Mains and got approx 6000 rank among 10 lakhs applicants. Top 1.5 lakh students were selected for the second exam called her advanced. I secured 6521 rank in that exam. Then I appeared for councelling procedure. So according to my rank I got a seat at IIT kanpur.

Faculty here are highly educated , had done their phds I'm their respective fields from across different reputed universites across globe. They are very supportive and won't even hesitate in solving even basic doubts.
