Remarks
Positive - Good faculty, good campus, no political issues to interfere, good environment for studying, labs, washrooms, canteens are clean. Negative - No placements properly available, holidays limited.
Course Curriculum Overview
I love Botany so decided to persue it through a nice college. So overall I'm satisfied. Exam structure is as follows: Internal theory - 10 Marks Attendance - 10 Marks Practical - 30 Marks Theory - 50 Marks The internal and attendance Marks are provided from the college whereas the rest are through the University examination methods.
Placement Experience
No, my college doesn't provide job for my course. But some other streams like Computer Science, Physics may have internship. Not many chances there to scoop a job by only doing a basic graduation. A little disappointed from this end, but I plan to do masters.
College Events
Almost every event is celebrated here. From sports day to fest everything. At the beginning of the year, we get to see the freshers, teachers day being celebrated individually among departments. As we move ahead we get to see sports day, fest, also our college gets invited to fests, competitions, events and so much more. In our course, we also go for excursions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
A little bit expensive. I was admitted for Rs.16,000 round about. But, for each university examination for availing the theory and practical we have to give a fee around Rs. 900 in each semester. Even in each semester, we have to avail a fee to the college as well which can range from 2000 to 30000, depending on the course you take.
Fees and Financial Aid
No loan facility is available but a number of scholarship facilities available. The university scholarships are also available but through merit. The name of the scholarships are as follows : Certificate of merit. Sasimukhi Roychowdhury found certificate. Stephenson Nirmalendu Ghosh Scholarship. Dr. Biraja Shankar Guha and Mrs. Uma Guha memorial educational award. Ogilvie and Wilson certificate. Allen Bequest Merit certificate. S.C. Sil Merit Certificate. London Certificate. Edinburgh Certificate. Rev. Kalicharan Banerjee Memorial Scholarship.
Campus Life
Labs are satisfying enough and has all the required elements. There is no issue regarding the labs and provides us with plenty. If there is a rating scheme I would give 8.5/10 but the rooms are medium, air conditioned and cleaned. Sports events also happen annually.
Hostel Facilities
Not opted for hostel. But a number of hostel facilities available as students from around the India come here to study. From my friends I came to know that the facilities are good enough for staying but has an good expense which is taken as an annual fee.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is quite strong, and department wise, a yearly alumni program is arranged by the college. The seniors are quite helpful and we learn a lot from them. Though our new university examination rules which started from 2018 is different from the earlier ones, still they help us whenever needed.
Admission
I got admitted to this college though the merit list criteria. Firstly, there was a 1st merit list which consisted of 250 students, I was one of them. 10 students were selected from the 1st round. The second merit list was updated after few days to fill the seats of 30. I was taken in the 2nd round.
Faculty
Fair enough, makes us understand if we say that there is some kind of doubt. Also provides us with enough notes and suggestions through their experience. Overall they are strict, but that's good for your growth in the subject, so I'm satisfied.
