Remarks

Overall, after becoming an alumni, and comparing policies of colleges of my colleagues, I have immense respect for Nirma University. For the kind of person I am, no college could do a better job at nourishing as Nirma did. But ofcourse there are some pitfalls that one should avoid if choosing Nirma. For example, not get into negative gossips (regarding attendance policy mostly)

Course Curriculum Overview

5

In instrumentation and control engineering, first 3 semesters were mainly about providing brief knowledge about all branches of engineering like electrical, computer, mechanical, civil, chemical. It felt useless in college, but is useful afterwards. Also, the curriculum for IC was quite intense and research oriented there on.

Placement Experience

4

College doesn't have internship programs which is sad as there are some great projects always on. For placement, one studying in college is ought to get some placement, but it won't be likely that it will be the one that he or she desired before joining college. The curriculum is research oriented and the job profile suited for such students, companies tend to hire Masters.

College Events

4

There are TOO many. First of all, there are multiple clubs and organisations and what not. And for each to be in limelight they keep organising something or the other. Also, for maximum participation, college sometimes suspends classes and keeps attendance compulsory.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is expensive. Till i remember, it was around 75k for a semester of normal students, and 1.5L for NRI Sponsored. But, unfortunately, most colleges in india with feasible fee structure, do not nearly offer such holistic development opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was not offered any, a few colleagues were offered chief minister scholarship which probably was based on merit, but would not know more about it. A few juniors got some kind of scholarships by actively participating in activities of international organisation like ISA

Campus Life

4.5

There are a lot. The infrastructure is good, but unfortunately, the maintaining authority keeps a tight control over access to these activities basically rendering them useless unless one is ready to go through all barriers.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

For B.tech, there is no hostel facility. For MBA there was. It was just OK. The only good part was that one can be friends all the time and use resources available in campus. Although there are some good options nearby.

Alumni/Alumna

I have just became an alumni and realise that there is a network, but I doubt the usefullness of the network. Also, am quite sure it is not nearly as strong as the ones in lets say BITS Pilani. Although they do have get togethers from time to time.

Admission

NRI Sponsored category, so one has to convince an NRI to sponsor the student. As in, NRI has to sign on an affidavit saying s/he will pay the fees of college for a student. After applying to it, there still is merit based on JEE main and 12boards percentage

Faculty

4.5

One of the very few colleges in India where tje faculty is really kept in check. Although, unlike more elite colleges, a few faculties might not be as knowledgeable but still tend to be always available for discussions which more than one would think, results in something very fruitful

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
