Positive- This is the best which we can have in India and yeah we are steadily improving but only if there are less interventions from Government. Negative- Yes, I agree IITs are still behind to compete with colleges at international level. We have very less scope in Core Engineering Fields. Research quality is far too low.

Course curriculum here at IIT Kanpur is really flexible. 1st year (1st and 2nd Sem) all the undergraduates have the same courses to do. Courses in Engineering Maths, Physics, Chemistry plus a course in Humanities. The level of the courses are such that everything starts from just where JEE leaves you. Difficulty level is as much as JEE, it's just that now regular hard work is what matters, smart work may not always pay off. Exam Structure- Mid Sem, End Sem, 1-1 quizzes before each of the exams. Sometimes assignments do Carry a weightage from 5-50% depending on the Professor. Practically the exam structure is quite flexible here.

Placements and Job opportunities is one of the best among the Institutes in our country. Every student can land a decent job if he/she put some efforts. Around 200+ companies visit for placement session every year. Aerospace Avg. CTC- 10 Lakh+ and IITK provides decent internship opportunities. Stipend = 20000-1.5lakh per month.

Moderate. Tution fee is 1 lakh per semester + some extra charges like hostel, mess establishment fee accounts to 15000 per semester. We receive Regular monthly canteen Bill and Mess Bill in addition to the above which comes around 10000 per semester.

Yes, IIT Kanpur does offer scholarships to students with financially weak background and also to Category students. It's quite difficult for a general category student to avail a scholarship as most of them require the family income below 6 lakhs.

Lab facilities are one of the best in our country. We have Flight Laboratory which none of the Institutes in our country has. We have our own gliders. Excellent Sport facilities. We have Olympic size swimming pool, Tennis court, Squash court, etc.

Have your base in maths and science subjects quite strong. For that be attentive in 9th and 10th standards. The real preparation starts from 11th onwards. Join a coaching class, it's a must to have a proper guidance. Apply for and clear JEE Mains. Then if you pass Mains, apply for JEE Advance. Qualify and acquire a Rank under 3500 for General Category to get admission in Aerospace Engineering at IITK.

Every Department has some good and bad professors. Like in my department, there are in total around 20 Professor each one has there own specialized streams. Out of them 5-6 Professors are really skilled and good in teaching. Same with other departments.
