B.A. International Relations at Central University of Kerala

The BA campus at Trivandrum doesn't have a permanent building for its functioning yet. It is working on a rented building. But the government has found a place for the setting up of the University at Vithura.

I am studying BA IR at the Trivandrum campus and the course structure is very detailed and thorough. IR covers a lot of topics which are relevant in the current International scenario.

The University doesn't provide placements for the students but the certificate that we are receiving from a Central University has great value compared to other Universities. The students should find internships for themselves and the university will provide us with support for our internships.

At the start of the academic term we have the fresher's day and then independence day. Then we celebrate Onam, the regional festival of Kerala. Christmas, Id, Ramzan, etc is also celebrated at the college. All the festivals which are prominent in Kerala are celebrated at the Central University of Kerala.

This is a Central Government institution established directly by the Parliament of India under the Central Universities act of 2009. The education here is of good quality and the fees for it is so less. It is too feasible. The tuition fees for the BA course will be less than 15,000 for three years excluding the hostel fee.

Scholarships were available at the college but it has been stopped. The education provided is of good quality and the fee for it is so cheap. Anyone can afford education at a Central University. If the students cime from an economically backward family them there is also provisions for them.

Extracurricular activities are held at the main campus at Kasargod. Students can exhibit their extracurricular skills and talents in different stages like the South zone regional competitions and at the arts festival which are held every year. The competitions are healthy and the certificates have a value because they are issued by a Central University.

The alumni network is good and they will also give us guidance and guidelines for our studies to be done after the completion of our course. The University also provides us with alumni meets for interacting with the former students of the college so that we cam get an exposure and a view about our path forward.

We should attend the entrance exam CUCET which stands for Central University Common Entrance Test, which is conducted every year. We can apply for different courses according to our interest and attend the exam. The students who top the exam are then called in for counselling. They will explain to us about the courses and the opportunities. We can take the admission if we are interested.

At the Trivandrum campus the faculties are appointed on a contract basis. The interview for permanent faculties are being held and from the academic year 2020-2021 permanent faculties will be appointed at the campus. Even though the teachers are not permanent doesn't mean that they are under qualified, the guest lecturers ata the Trivandrum campus are well qualified and good teachers.
