Remarks
There are always two sides of the coin. Students here can also fall into a phase of depression due to high competitions and challenges faced here. They can also fall drug or alcohol usage. Besides all such things, positivity in the campus will always remain at its peak. Many fun filled activities are conducted in the campus which motivates students and help them fulfill their goals.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course template for chemical engineering is not difficult. Course load and stress level among students is a bit lower than other fields. It mainly covers the fields of processes carried out in chemical industries which manufacture products used in our daily lives such as toothpastes, soaps, petroleum, detergents and so on. Chemical engineers are responsible for developing a feasible and an economic process to manufacture such products and and design the machines and equipment for the same.
Placement Experience
The placement statistics of IIT Kanpur has been high since a very long time. Various companies, both Indian and foreign, come during the placement season and select the best and we'll deserved candidate for their job. College also provides internship opportunities to the students in mainly third year of engineering. There is a smile on every student's face at the time of graduation.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite normal. Since it is a government institution, the fee is not very high compared to other private engineering colleges. For a general candidate, tuition fee per semester is ?1,00,000. But if the family income is low or you belong to a reserved category, you may avail for a fee waiver.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are a number of scholarship plans available from the institute such as KVPY, MCM, Inspire etc. Loan options are also available through SBI bank of IIT Kanpur. Scholarship is also availed based on your JEE rank.
Campus Life
There are a number of sports and cultural activities in the campus. We have almost every sport played here from Cricket to Squash to Swimming. There are a number cultural clubs for dance, music, dramatics, English and Hindi literature, Debating Society, Anime Society. The activities of clubs are largely student centric. Labs here are well equipped with all necessary materials. Computer labs have PCs installed with both Windows and Linux and internet speed in the campus is very much high.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I have opted for hostel facilities. Infrastructure in hostels is quite good and food served in the mess is normal. There are well equipped sanitary facilities and cleanliness is maintained on daily basis.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni network of the campus is gigantic. It has a huge alumni network lasting from the batch passing out in 1960s to the present. They even visit to campus to refresh their old and blissful memories. Many alumnus even visit their hostel rooms and tell stories to the students of our batch of their times. Alumni provide the best guidance to students and even offer them internship opportunities. Seniors are very helpful to the freshman. They guide them in amost every field. They teach them how to utilise time effectively which would be fruitful to them. Seniors also help out students with studies and other stuff.
Admission
You get admitted to IITs (23 currently) through JEE Advanced. Eligibility criteria for appearing for JEE Advanced is to clear JEE Main. Nearly 12 lakh students appear for JEE Main out of which 2 - 2.5 lakh students get selected for appearing the next exam. Selection is based on a ranking system where each student gets an All India Rank. A separate rank list is prepared for students who are going for reservations. JEE Advanced is based on basic concepts in Physics, Chemistry and Maths (PCM).
Faculty
The faculty of the college is highly educated and they know their stuff very well. They have done their post graduation from renowned institutions. Some of the professora have even graduated from foreign universities. Some professors are also student friendly. Every professor responds to their student's queries and questions.
