My One Year In IIT Kanpur

Academic pressure on students is much higher. Also scoring cumulative GPA above 8.5 is quiet difficult here. So chances to do post graduation in ivy league schools becomes difficult because of low cumulative GPA. Overall campus of our college provides the best experience.

Course Curriculum here is quiet busy. It's not difficult but time per semester you get is very less. You get only four months per semester out of which eight days are holiday. Exams are generally divided into four parts. Quiz 1, Mid Semester Examination, Quiz 2 and End Semester Examination. If you can score minimum of 30 marks out of 100, you pass the course. This is a general scenerio.

Almost 80 percent of the students are placed in IIT Kanpur. Job opportunities are tremendous as IIT Kanpur is a premiere Institute in the country. Companies like Facebook , Microsoft offers jobs for students. Internships are also provided for students by the college. They are generally research oriented. Stipend for PhD fellow is about Rs. 25000 and for Post graduation fellow is Rs. 12500.

Fee structure in IIT Kanpur is feasible. It is based on the income of the student and his family. 1. Income greater than six lakhs per annum => Fees Around three lakhs per annum. 2. Income between one lakh and six lakhs => Fees around one lakh seventy thousands. 3. Income less than one lakh => Fees around seventy thousands per annum.

Scholorships offered by institution : 1. INSPIRE : It is a scholorship offers for meritorious students whose cumulative GPA is greater than 6. 2. DONOR : It is a scholarship offered for students whose annual income is less than six lakhs Indian rs. And whose cumulative GPA is greater than 6. 3. FBM : It is a basic mess and food scholorship offered for SC or SC candidates. 4. BANK LOAN OFFERS : SBI offers students loan for students of IIT Kanpur.

Because of technological and sports festivals. Sports and science and technology clubs here are top notch. Almost all popular sports are played in the campus. My rating for sports facility here is 5 out of 5.

Hostel infrastructure Rating is 4.5 out of 5. Hostel facilities rating 4.5 out of 5. Hostel is equipped with a mess, a canteen, common rooms, reading room, guests room and sports facilities. Hostels are guarded by a security. There is greenery around the hostel building.

IIT Kanpur has an alumni network of more than 50 years. Famous personalities like Infosys founder Mr. Narayan Murthy and CSE professor Rajiv Motwani are the alumni of IIT Kanpur. Seniors here are very helpful. Clubs here works on legacy which is passed by years and years and hence seniors and alumni are helpful.

Faculty here is excellent. Points to note are : 1. Every professor here has a PhD along with strong research background. 2. Every tutor has done PhD or doing it in the college itself. 3. Every TA has done his graduation and opting of post graduation in the College.
