Aerospace at IITK

It is a highly esteemed college in India. Students give two-three years of their lives to get into such a college. It is only the luck and determination of students that gets them here. Getting admission here is no less than an achievement itself. However, like all other government things in India, the facilities are somewhere not upto he mark. College is failing in he recent years to deliver the result it is expected. Hope this situation improves soon.

Course Curriculum is great with a good amount of extra curricular activities. There are two major exams in one semester (1) Mid semester exams and (2) End Semester exams. Additionally, a professor can decide to take quizes in between which have a relatively lesser percentage in he course.

The placements and job opportunities are one of the best in India. Graduation from CSE branch can get you one of the highest packages in India. It amounts in crores. The college provides internship to students from within and other colleges. These internships are not really very popular. Average stipend is around 10-15k only.

There are four major festivals that take place here. (1) The startup fest : E-Summit, it has some other counterparts too that take place around the year. (2) The sports fest : Udghosh (3) The cultural fest : Antaragni and (4) The technical fest : Techriti. Techkriti receives a lot of sponsorship from the countrywide companies as the college is popular for its technical performances. Apart from this, there are three other inter-hostel competitions (General Championship) : Inferno, Takneek and Galaxy. Galaxy is real deal. It's time when everyone gives his/her best to win the trophy. It's trophy is a real honour.

It is feasible. Good scholarships are provided. And if the salary of gaurdian is low, then the fee is also reduced considerably. If the income of parents is less than 6 lakhs, the tuition fee is reduced to one third only. Even without that, the fee is one of the lowest in India.

If you have a low income, one third of the fee is all you have to pay. Apart from this, there are scholarships based on merits such as KVPY, NTSE scholarships etc. Some other government schemes are there too which provide scholarships on the basis of overall performance and parental income. They are generally harder to avail.

I have already explained about the festivals and GC. They are the major extra curriculars around the year. Apart from this, there are weekly labs. Labs are actually part of the academics only. They are good, I mean technology is top notch in such labs. Sports facilities are also good. There are almost every sports facility available here.

There are several kinds of hostels. Some are new, some are old. Each one of the student must opt for hostels and they are alloted at random. Hostel infrastructure can really vary. Some hostels are really new, so they have magnificent structure while some are so old that they are to be renovated from the scratch very soon.

Alumni association is good in its own ways. College receives frequent donations and startup help from them. Seniors are really helpful. Juniors generally learn more from seniors than they learn from professors. Seniors demand to be respected but they give valuable lessons in return.

There are two stages to qualify for admission in the IITs in India. First stage is known as JEE Mains and the second stage is known as JEE Advance. One has to secure a good rank in JEE Advance to get admission in an IIT. I cleared both stages and got admission into the college. There are no interviews whatsoever.

Most of the faculty boasts of research background. However, only a minor percentage of them has good teaching experience. There are some professors who have a good international rapport too. Some have even received the best faculty awards in their respective fields. But this is a minority only.
