Remarks

The college management needs to take into consideration placement attendance. Many people miss their regular lectures and assignments due to placement and there are no allowances for it and there are no set rules.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is well structured with a few exceptions. Here and there there are subjects which are also taught in the lab along with in class. There is more learning in the lab for those subjects and it is a waste of time to teach them as theory subjects as they are meant to be solved by computer software, this makes these few subjects exceptionally tedious. The PowerPoint slides and notes provided are mostly sufficient to clear exams.

Placement Experience

3

This year the placement was not that good. Around 10-20% were placed in core companies and 30-40% placed in MNCs. With the decline in automobiles and other mechanical related industries, not many core companies turned up for placements. The major recruiter for all branches of engineering was MNCs. Except for the computer branches, the overall placements were pretty low for the others.

College Events

5

Many events are organized on campus. For most religious festivals the college organizes small events for the students. Other than this the college has two major fests, one is called TechTatva and the other is Revels. TechTatva is the college's technical fest. Lots of hackathons, robotics, electronic hardware coding, robot wars, etc workshops are organized. Revels is the cultural fest of the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The Mechanical course is around 3.5 lakhs per 2 semesters. The initial first-year fee is a little higher as it also includes the price for providing laptops to each student. Other expenses for hostel and mess etc are taken separately. Other than this there are separate charges for re-registering courses. I don't have an idea about the fee for those.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail of any form of scholarship or education loan. Also, I do not have any knowledge of the same.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is very happening and vibrant. The gender ratio is pretty equal, leaning more towards the male. Manipal has a very very diverse crowd and there is something new to see and learn every day. For me, more than academics Manipal has taught me how to live outside my comfort zone and made me learn how to live independently. Extracurricular activities and sports are in abundance.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network for Manipal is fairly good, and now Manipal has also dedicated an alumni network portal to make people even more accessible.

Admission

I got my admission into the Manipal Institute of Technology after clearing the entrance exam with a certain requisite mark for my branch. The admission process is very simple. First of all, Manipal allows for three attempts for the entrance test, and the best of three is taken. It is not necessary to give all attempts, one is enough. The marks you obtain are instantly given to you once you finish the test.

Faculty

4

Faculty of Mechanical, in general, is pretty good. Most of the professors are highly qualified and knowledgable. Some professors though are not that good at communicating with students ie they are not able to transfer their subject knowledge to students in a proper manner.
