First step into the Merchant Navy

The menu they are following is mainly a Tamil Menu for breakfast and lunch. A non tamil guy may takes time to adjust with this tamil cuisine in the beginning. Once you are ok with this tamil cuisine then every thing is on the track.

3 Yrs B. Sc Nautical Science course is divided into 6 semester. 6-8 subjects including practical respective practical exam and swimming exam is included. Main subjects including Navigation, Stability, Ship Operation Technology, Chart Work, ROR etc.

Reputed companies like Maersk, chevron, shell, MOL, Frontline Tankers used to visit college and took cadets once they finish their degree. Placement percentage is about 60-70%. The stipend varies from company to company and type of ship which he/she joining. Around 450$-850$ is the stipend which companies used to give for Cadets while onboard.

All the regional festivals including Onam, Pongal, Navratri, Diwali. Then Annual sports meet, Cultural Festival, Navnautics, Seafarers Day, Passing Out Parade, Republic Day and Independence Day parade etc

Fees should be paid before the starting of each semester. The fees structure varies from course to course. As this is a strictly In-house course the fee for course, hostel and mess fees should be paid. The university do all the necessary steps for education loan. Total fees come around 12-14 lakhs.

Companies used to give pre sponsorhip for cadets and college will provide necessary papers for taking education loan from the banks. A few companies used to give some amount of money as scholarship in their semesters.

Have a dedicated swimming pool for cadets safety courses training. Also consists of a gymnasium with most modern equipments. Have a dedicated Volleyball courtand football court and a badminton court. Boating is the another pleasant thing which is available.

Hostel is spacious with maintaining all the Fire and Safety standards. Each room is designed for 4 Cadets. It consists 4 separate Bed and locker facility including a ceiling fan and provided with extra bunk fan.

College keeps the track of all alumnis and used to conduct a alumni meet once in a year at various locations which includes the top companies in the marine field. This alumni is a cherishful moment for every one to get back the good old days which we can spent a good time with our Captains.

The basic qualification to join B.Sc Nautical Science in AMET University is 12th pass with minimum of 60% in Physics Chemistry Mathematics and 50% marks in English language. Moreover the candidate should be medically fit and should have a vision on left and right eyes with 6/6 vision. If all the requirements are satisfying then he/she can apply for AMET University Entrance exam which is normally conducted in the month of May - June. If the entrance exam is cleared then you can joined for 3yrs B.Sc nautical science course.

Faculties are mainly those who sailed in ships as Master and Chief Officer. Their knowledge regarding the subjects are very helpful for the students. They teach lessons from their own sailing experiences. Mostly the hard struggles which they face onboard in all situations.
