For me it's one of the best college of Kolkata. With all kinds of social activities, Extra curricular activities, friendly faculty and seniors, and most of all the education system and syllabus is so good here
Course Curriculum Overview
For bsc maths hons. the syllabus is good I think. It's mainly JAM oriented, which helps the students for the pg entrance exams. It's well distributed all over six semesters. We have 1 mid term and 1 end term exam for each semester. For the mid term exam they calculate the marks, in respect to 20 (including attendance) and add with the end term exam marks(80).
Placement Experience
Being one of the best college of kolkata, the placements and job opportunities are pretty high here as well as the competition. They provide us internships from the first year. They provide us with every information that we need related to this, and encourage us to be a part of it. The interview with the companies are pretty good too, overall it's a worthy opportunity. And for the stipend, it depends on in which dept you are in. Like for our maths department it's around 8 to 9 lpa.
College Events
The college has a lot of event for every department. For maths they have analytica, for computer science they have exhibit and much more. Not only the departmental fests, we have events for all the societies like bengali literature society, regular seminars. And yes one of the biggest college fests of India, 'Xavotsav'.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It depend from which family you're. It's a little bit expensive for Indian middle class families. But you can talk to the vice principal or principal for concession, and they do their best to grant those. So it's not a big issue to worry about.
Fees and Financial Aid
I've heard students getting scholarships over lakhs, from our college. But don't remember the exact amount. And yes they even offer student loan for the students in need. We have syndicate bank in our college campus. For any loan related help, vp and principal is always for us
Campus Life
Xavier's is also famous for its sports and extra-curricular activities. Students with good performance in sports easily get a chance here to join us during the admission. We have goonj, xavullash the co curricular fests. We have NSS, NCC and other groups for extra curricular activities. And labs are pretty good to with modern gadgets and well maintenance.
Hostel Facilities
Yeah I live in the College hostel, 15 mins walk from the college. We have one boys' and one girls' hostel there. More then 60 cc tvs, fathers, brothers, sisters always keep an eye on us, the helps us every time in need. We have lift, gym, chapel, Ground to play and much more here. The quality of the food isn't bad, and the variety is very good now.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are the best here. They always helps us for any education related or non related information. Whenever we need them they come to support us. Xavier's don't tolerate ragging. So the seniors themselves never face that. They are just not our seniors but sometimes brothers for us. That's what our colleges are different from Xavier's.
Admission
We need to submit the admission form of the college after our class 12 results, online. Then they go through all the application forms, and with respect to merit, the select students. The selected candidates names are published on their website, around the last 2 weeks of june
Faculty
All the college faculty are highly educated and qualified to teach us. They ensure that we understand every little part of the syllabus. They even ask individually if we understand what they are teaching, and holds extra classes for us.
