Pendharkar College

The college has been a reputable as well as a hospitable instituition fostering a rational and tolerant temparament among the students of various faculties, as well as the plethora of faculty members.

The course curriculum for my Masters in History aims at getting us acquainted with the intricacies of Historical Research as well as with the histories of various periods and regions. The exam structure follows a 60-40 pattern, with 60 marks for external evaluation (a written test with 4 questions for 15 marks each) and 40 marks for internal evaluation (20 marks for an assignment and 20 marks for a written test).

With regards to the Department of History, there are few opportunities regarding job placements, although there are placement camps for other streams and the self-finance courses. As for our department, the college doesn't provide internship.

There are various events held by the college throughout the academic year.The V.K. Rajwade series: The Department of History organizes series of lectures (one lecture per month) revolving around the different things associated with the field of History as well as catering to potential employment opportunities.The Annual College Event (Valay): This is the flagship event of the college, held every year in the month of February. This involves activities related to the academia, the sports and the cultural department.

There are two different fee structures, one for the Aided Section and the other for the Unaided one. The courses covered under the Aided Section are provided for by the government, and thus are charged relatively less. The courses covered under Unaided are provided by the Trust (Dombivli Shikshan Prasarak Mandal), and thus are charged accordingly.

There isn't any particular scholarship or loan facility that I have availed. However, there is a scholarship scheme for the underprivileged students in our college, where those students are compensated for the fees that they pay.

In case of laboratories, there is an extensive section in the college premises devoted to laboratories for the departments of Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science.The college has had a glorious tradition of sports, with athletes from the college representing at national levels in various sports, be it indoor or outdoor.The college also has the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme wings, with students showing active participation year after year.

There are many in the alumni network who have returned to the college to work among the teaching staff. The alumni have also came back to the college to participate in guidance seminars aimed for the current students.

I had got admission in this college for SYJC, on the basis of my marks in 11th grade. After shifting to this college from the previous one, I was guided by the Admissions department. With my marks in 11th grade, I was placed under the Aided Section.

The faculty of our college is quite diligent in their pursuit of imparting education to their students, striving towards excellence in research and making the most with the resources available at hand.
