Brief Review Of IIT Jodhpur

Being a young IIT there is lot scope in development and the institute is taking good efforts in a high pace to lead to becone one of the best technical institutes of India in the upcoming future. 3 years ago from now we shifted to our new permanent campus. Previous year our new director joined who is doing a great job at a remarkable pace to make the institute one of the technical leaders.

Course curriculum is very flexible. Almost half of the credits we earn are from our department courses and rest from different disciplines including B.tech projects. We are also allowed to pursue minors or department specialization or interdisciplinary specialization as per our choice. We can also convert our B.tech into Dual degree with just one additional year of study here. These all are opted in seventh semester. Regarding exam structure, we have a continuous evaluation scheme. Two mid semester exams and a final examination along with it quizzes, assignment, lab exams and others. The components of evaluation and their weightage varies course to course.

Placements are pretty good with more than 80% placements percentage and average package of more than 14 lac over all branches. Various companies, PSUs and others visit to recruit students. Internship opportunities are also provided through the institute. Companies for placements also take students for internships or sometimes companies just come for internships. Stipend varies company to company even which varies along with the location.

All festivals round the year are celebrated in the college. We have our own festivals too. IGNUS, the biggest festival of north-west India with many stars visiting IITJ during IGNUS. Technical fest - NIMBLE - Intracollege technical fest Cultural fest - Spandan - Intracollege Cultural fest IDEASPARK - a festival by entrepreneurship cell of IITJ which saw many entrepreneurs and big faces.

Fees is approx 1.4 lac per semester for B.tech students. Although it will look expensive and unfeasible but due to various scholarship schemes of our Institute we are able to easily enjoy the life. The Institute provides scholarship to students having family income less than 5 lacs in tuition fees of 1 lac. Students with annual family income less than 1 lac are given 100% scholarship while those having income 1-5 lac are given 67% scholarship on the tuition fees.

Scholarship are given to students depending on the annual family income of the student as per MHRD rules. Student with annual family income less than a lac are given 100% scholarship on tuition fees while those having annual family income between 1 to 5 lac are awarded 67% scholarship on tuition fees of 1 lac. Other than this, another scheme Merit cum means scholarship is given which gives students freeship with good academic records.

All sports are played here and teams do participate in naitonal level Inter IIT Sports festival. We will soon be having our own cricket ground inside the campus. Basketball court, Tennis court, Badminton court all are available inside the campus. Each hostel are equipped with sports and gym facilities which anyone can use. Labs are very sophisticated with highly precise and expensive equipments.

Hostel are one of the best things here. All students are given single A/C room with many facilities within it. Room includes Bed, chair, table , almirah , Fan, Lan port. Student need not worry about cleaning the room or washing clothes too.

We are a young IIT and thus the almuni network is not so known or strong as of now. Almuni here are doing good in their life. Many are leading faces of their companies, many are doing research work as fellows or proffesors too. Students have also cracked UPSC. Senior students are very helpful and we can easily reach out to them for any help or guidance and they are willingly happy to help us.

Admission in taken through JOSAA counselling and JEE Advanced Ranks. We give JEE Mains entrance exam and selected candidates give JEE Advanced. Top 20k-30k students gets admission in IITs. The institute and degree are chosen by students as per their preferences in JOSAA Counselling.

Faculty are in very young phase with most of them having very short experience of teaching and research as a faculty. We have some professors too mostly recruited from older IITs. They are doing hard work for the institute and quality research. The strength has increased alot in the previous year.
