Remarks
The positive part of my college is that academics is taken very seriously by all the departments, classes are regular and the faculty is extremely good. The only negative thing is that it does not provide us with internships or placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is based on the norms of Calcutta University and has a very elaborate syllabus. It covers most of the fields of psychology, both theory and practical, and the examination is conducted by the Calcutta University in a yearly basis
Placement Experience
There is no such placement cell in Calcutta University and the college also does not provide internships. Although this is something that should be introduced so that students can get more and more opportunities in the field.
College Events
There are a number of events celebrated in our college, the largest being the annual fest Udaan. There are also cricket football badminton chess table tennis competitions along with debate creative writing photography etc. There is also a short film making competition, cooking competitions and many more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is very minimal in Calcutta University and it is around 10000 per year including 12 months fees admission fees examination fees and all other fees. Thus it is really quite feasible and not at all expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for students who cannot afford the money to study are subsidised and also they have an option to pay the fees in installments at their ease. This, according to me is very helpful for students of lower socio economic backgrounds.
Campus Life
The labs in our department is very up to date with all new instruments and that too in good condition. The sports club arranges tournaments and also help students excel through training and practice. There are also drama and music clubs.
Alumni/Alumna
The senior students are really helpful and they are very nice to juniors. Ragging is taken very seriously in our college and thus any such activity is not tolerated in our college. The rapport between the seniors and juniors are extremely good and friendly.
Admission
The Admission was based on my marks obtained in class 12 examination. The marks of English cumulative total and Psychology was taken into consideration for creating the merit list. I rankend 22nd on the merit list
Faculty
The faculty of my college is extremely good, specially our Head of the Department, Dr. Pooja Chatterjee. The other faculty including both teaching and non teaching staff is extremely cooperative and helpful.
