Remarks

The college has few drawbacks and I am gonna state them before as I want to end on a sweet note. The college could use more toilets and make the teachers aquainted with using the projectors. Otherwise the college ticks all the boxes . It's very clean. Everyone is helpful. All the instruments really work ( thankfully). Proper hygiene is maintened and the college really puts in a lot of work into assuring the students never face any academic problem. Also the clinical exposure is one of the best in kolkata.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum has changed from this year itself. The curriculum has changed for the better and become more student oriented. Also the focus has shifted from time constraint to competency level.

Placement Experience

5

After four years of the course one year of internship is provided in which a good amout of stipend is paid. The college provides for the internship in its own institute. Donning the apron , dealing with the patients can be a tough work but it really is worth evey bit of the effort because the smile you put across a patients face will fulfil your soul and make you forget all your weariness. The stipend is around Rs.20,000- Rs. 25000 per month.

College Events

4

We have an annual intercollege fest : Lobelia . It's of 4 days. Where budding doctors forget about the muscle origin and insertion and focus on chilling and having fun. It's a great platform to showcase your talent and an even better chance to develop seniors junior bonding. College Founders Day is celebtated . Sports day : Various colleges participate in the sports competition . Indoor as well as outdoor ganes are played . Outdoor games like football, cricket and basketball are held whereas the indoors contain chess for the witty ones , badminton and carrom.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The College fees is very low as the college is govt. aided . It's quite a meagre amount to be frank. The academic fees is as low as Rs.500 a year. The tuition fees is Rs.700 per month. The classes are completely air conditioned. All in all it costs around Rs.2000 per month

Fees and Financial Aid

I availed the Merit Cum Means scholarship. Which provides around Rs.35000 for a year. Various other student loans can be applied on the basis of college at any of the banks. Girls can also apply for Dr. Reddy’s Foundation Sashakt Scholarship as it aims at providing selected fellows will receive the following awards & benefits:Scholarship worth INR 2,40,000 (INR 80,000/year) for 3 years of study, which covers the college tuition fees, study expenses and basic living costs.

Campus Life

4.5

The college provides with a lot of extra curricular activities like carrom table, tennis and various other games. The college also provides opportunities for self directed learning, group dynamics and various other ways to make the classes interesting and more interactive. The labs are really upto the mark and maintain high standards with all the latest equipments and apparatuses. What really make the the last stand out are the immensely helpful assistants. All the nerds come out to play once in a while. Cricket and football are played seasonally where as indoor games are played all around the year. Carrom being the favourite among all .

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is divided into 4 blocks . Two for the girls and two for the boys. Ladies hostels are situated within the college wheres as the boys hostel are situated outside. The hostel infrastructure is really good. With adequate amount of toilets and bathroom on each floor. The lighting and fans are upto the mark . The only problem is that there are a lot of stray cats whom we have now adopted as pets . There's no generator for backup supply during powercuts but this never is a problem as power cuts are very very rare.

Alumni/Alumna

the students have a really good bonding with each other and there is a really good rapport between between juniors and seniors. The seniors are really helpful and they are the ones we juniors are gonna run to during the exams as they are the ones who are gonna help us at last Here the senior- junior bonding is really good in this college and unlike other colleges not affected by any political agendas. It's like a great family.

Admission

You need to clear the NEET (UG). Around 17-18 lakh students gave the exam this year. The exam consists of 180 MCQ's which comprise of 3 sections : Physics- 45 , Chemistry - 45 and Biology - 90. Each correct question will fetch 4 marks and wrong answers will lead to a -1mark . Getting an All India Rank under 15,000 will surely help you get a seat in this college. After securing a good rank various rounds of counseling take place helping you select the college of your choice. Once the counseling is done you need to report to your alloted college. You get done with the verification of all your documents and pay the admission charges and Voila! You are at your dream college.

Faculty

5

They really are the teachers you deserve for your hard work to get into a medical college . The passion really reflects in their teachings. One of the best minds with ample knowledge and with the desire to disseminate them. What more could a student ask. Also the teacher's really focus on the applied aspect of studying. All in all wonderfull panel of faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
