Remarks

The Institute is in server need of faculty, infrastructure and good non-academi staff. Currently the Institute is being run just for the sake of it. Considering this situation and trend, if followed for another 10, there will be severe loss to the students and members of the Institute in terms of personal development.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Current course curriculum is not upto date. It involves too many topics that cannot be covered in one single semester course. Also new topics and technology is not implemented. The curriculum will change from 2020. Exam is of two parts: Internal and External. Internal contains viva, practicals, etc. External contains written exam.

Placement Experience

3

Placements and job opportunities include campus placements. Various companies of diverse fields visit the Institute and recruit talented students based on their merit and interviews. Institute does not provide any comoulsory official internships to the students. However, the students are encouraged to visit other institutes/industries on their own cost to learn their subject in great detail either through project work or through training programmes.

College Events

4

All the major festivals of India are celebrated in the Institute. Apart from this, the Institute has a cultural festival by the name of Sparsh in the month of February each year. Also, many science events are celebrated by the applied sciences department.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee has become expensive from 2019. Earlier it was feasible. Although the reason of this rise in fee is the changes in government policies. Batches admitted before 2019, used to pay only half of what students pay now.

Fees and Financial Aid

College offers scholarships to high merit students from the resevered categories (SC/ST) based on the interview system. Apart from this, there is also EWS (economically backward section) reservations in the Institute for which the fees are minimal.

Campus Life

1.5

The laboratories are in general not so good due to very old equipment. Although the orders for new equipment are made, it takes ages to get them. Thus, most of the time laboratories at the Institute remain outdated and practically of not much use. Sports are encouraged by the Institute with various teams participating in All India Inter-NIT tournament and other national level tournaments. However there is a serious lack of sports equipment and coaches in the Institute. The students are supposed to manage everything by their own.

Hostel Facilities

4

The facilities are not up to date and a lot of work has to be done for overall development of the Hostels. There is a lack of furniture, mattresses, etc. And the people who come for repairing work are not provided with tools. The students are supposed to get it done on their own costs.

Alumni/Alumna

Usually the alumni network works independently of the current students. Although, I have personally met a few alumni in the course of 5 years I have been at the Institute, regular meetings between alumni and current students do not occur.

Admission

Admissions occur through the All India Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) mains. Once we get the score of the paper, we have to fill the preferences and according to our ranks and preference colleges are allowed to the students.

Faculty

2

There is currently a lack of faculty. Those involved try their best, though. Some faculty members tend not to be involved in extra curricular activities and overall development of the department and Institute, while others are keen to do so.

This includes subject like genetics ,molecular biology, immunology and others which strongly influence my decision to choose this course. It prepares students for well further academic education like MSC and research based fields.Teaching methods can be improved by adding interactive sessions, case studies, handson practice. This college includes internal exams such as unit test ,assignments, practical exams and end semesters exams which help students to stayed focused on studying. There are less difficulties faced by students who attend lectures on regular basis.
