Worth learning and growing.

The official work is a bit slow in the University. The processes are quite long as it is a central University. Else, the University is a good option if a student is willing to continue in the academic field only. Changes are taking place for good. And the University is growing now and is expected to transform as one of the best Universities. Also, as a part of this change, is the construction of the new department under CBCS. Also, all the other departments are developing and getting better day by day.

Yes, the course curriculum is fair. In fact, we got to know from our scholars and professors that the course structure of University of Allahabad is considered out of the best courses in India (especially Psychology). The examinations for the undergraduates is conducted annually and there is a semester system in post-graduation. Though the course curriculum here lacks in the field of exposure, eg, in providing internships, as per the syllabus and course structure is concerned, it is good. There are various seminars and competitions organized for the students of various departments that help you to know more about the subject. The professors are very experienced and give their best to the students (especially for the PG and P.hd students). In some graduate classes, there are research scholars to teach. This provides them exposure and so, to continue in the academics it is a good option to go with.

There is a placement cell in the university that constantly try to keep in touch with various institutions and organizations to provide exposure to the students. They also conduct seminars for the students. There is no specific subject wise placement or internship provided in any course. Though, if the students are availing some external internships, the placement cell is helpful for providing any resource. We did internships through Internshala (an online internship providing source), for which placement cell helped to conduct activities related to it.

Combining conducted in all the departments (but separate in all departments). Venues for the same are many times kept outside the university. These are well-conducted events and students enthusiastically participate in it. Also, many events are organized in the hostels, be it boys or girls. Annual sports day, Garba nights, annual functions, farewell parties etc are conducted in the hostels.

As it is a central University, hence the fees of all the courses are minimal and affordable. The fees for my course i.e Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, English literature and Medieval History, in the first year was nearly Rs.1075 and it was even less if there are no practical subjects in your combination. In the second year, it was Rs. 954 and in the third year it was again nearly Rs.1050. These are the annual fees for the courses. The fee structure totally relies on the course you select. Also, there are professional courses and different courses in Law for which the fee is a bit more than the other bachelor programs. Hostel expenses are also affordable.

There are scholarships available for the students belonging to the state of Uttar Pradesh and with low family income. U.P.Scholarships can be availed by the students of all courses. I availed no education loan but am receiving a scholarship (mentioned above) since my graduation first year. The student needs to register first on the official website 9f the government (UP scholarship) as a student of University of Allahabad and once registered every year you will have to renew it with old registration no. And avail the scholarship which is nearly triple of the fee submitted.

The campus life is good here. There is complete freedom of expression and students openly revolt against any foul practice. There is the freedom to roam around and the classes are fine with basic facilities. Most part of the university has an ancient look which is wonderful and its beauty is maintained by the administration and students. There are several gardens which are green and soothing. There are extracurricular activities organized by students also and various authorities. Debates are organized and various exhibitions and sports activities including the inter-university competition are here to participate in. You will find helpful people around and kind friends. The environment is friendly here.

The University of Allahabad has a good and strong alumni network. There are guest faculties and assistant professors who themselves have been a student here since graduation. Alumni meets are conducted. The senior students have always been helpful to their juniors. Especially in the hostels, the seniors help the juniors a lot with studies and everything. We got to meet a few alumni and it has been a good experience always.

The process of admission in the University of Allahabad commences in the month of February and March. The entrance exams (UGAT and PGAT) are conducted in the month of May. The admission process includes registration for the desired course and then giving the entrance exam. Once qualified in the merit list, the counselling process begins and subjects are allotted to the candidates as per their choice and marks of entrance exams. After the selection of subjects, the fee has to be paid instantly (the fee depends on the course and subjects selected). The classes begin from the month of July.

The faculty here in all the departments are helpful. The professors are very experienced and give their best to the students (especially for the PG and P.hd students). In some graduate classes, there are research scholars to teach. The faculty consists of Professors, assistant professors and guest faculties.
