About PCMT, Kolkata

Good teaching staff. Cool labs,Bad bad placement. It was fun learning but had painful time while placements.

I took WBJECA, I got 1474 rank. Reason for choosing is the college was in Kolkata city limits and hence placement chances were good.

Course curriculum of WBUT is good. But adding few more subjects like advanced data structures,programming would be good. Some papers like artificial intelligence and linear programming didn't make much sense to me. Inclusion of Java in Semester 5 was a bonus.

No. There was no internship and stipend. It was 2009 and hence the big recession. That might have been a factor too.

If you have 60% aggregate throughout then you would get few on and pool campus opportunities. I got to sit in L&T,Satyam and iFlex. Got selected in iFlex. Candidates having below 60% virtually got nil campus placement opportunities and even fake companies popped up.

Fests and cultural activities were frequent. Picnics were often organized. Tech seminars were very few. There was a presentation from Microsoft which I remember. That was pretty fruitful and good to hear.

Was a touch expensive. Around 25000 per semester in 2009.

Nope. I didn't avail any loan for this course.

Didn't avail hostel. I heard from hostel mates that lodging is good but food was crap.

Yes seniors were helpful. I didn't find any good alumni network there.

It was pretty chilled out. Ample amount of systems and all working ones. Labs and classrooms were air conditioned and hence kolkata heat didn't bother us while practicing code . Number of lab and practical classes were also high so gave a hands on experie

Brilliant and knowledgeable faculties except for a few. The faculties teaching C,Data structures, algorithms,graph theories,networking were real good. C++, AI was not covered well. Faculties teaching computer architecture was average and Operating system
