Remarks
Overall the college is great for academics. The BCom department has a huge fan following. The BSc/BA department is slowly becoming the best in Kolkata. The atmosphere is the most student-friendy and academic oriented. The college is apolitical. The only con you'll find is a disciplinary stand that makes it feel like school.
Course Curriculum Overview
As the college is an autonomous body the Course Curriculum is flexible and targeted to student's development and understanding more than anything else. There are two semester of exams per year (normal University of Calcutta pattern) along with a Mid-Sem exams in each semester.
Placement Experience
The college collaborates with Internshala.com, a website that provides internships to college students. There is a dedicated Placement Cell for placements and job related queries. Some departments even provide carren oriented and job interview oriented classes.
College Events
There are 12 official and few more unofficial societies in the college each of which organizes a yearly event along with other ones. Bodhon, Cinematheque, Ode to Expressions, Vividha, TheaXav, Goonj are some of them. But the main college fest is Xavotsav, the cynosure of all College Feats in Kolkata.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Depends and varies with each department but for being a private instituitions the fees are quite less compared to other private colleges. For BSc the overall course fee is around 1.3Lacs compared to around 1Lac in BCom morning and the double on BCom evening
Fees and Financial Aid
The College provides Scholarship to the top students of each department. There are also provisions for poor students who can't bear the college fees. As far as I know the college doesn't have a lone facility as of now.
Campus Life
The laboratories are top class and holds some equipments which are rarely available in Kolkata. The college administration always encouraged sports and the societies involve in different co curricular activities.
Alumni/Alumna
SXC boasts perhaps the most active and most involved Alumni Association of any colleges in Kolkata. SXCAA participates regularly in organising events in college and takes up multiple projects to help the new students. The seniors are truely helpful as well.
Admission
There are different processes for admissions in SXC based on the department. BA/BSc/BCom normally provides Merit lists of different boards and according to that admissions are taken. In case of some other departments though an admission test may occur.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is well trained and is skilled to make students understand the concepts. I personally am happy with them at least in out department. Top graded professors and support staff make teaching-learning a great experience.
