Course Curriculum Overview
Courses are good and upgraded to recent industry requirements. If students are interested they can get into interdepartmental projects, government-funded projects etc. AIC ( Atal incubation centre) is on the campus where students can incubate their novel ideas to the product with the help of mentor available on the campus.
Placement Experience
The placement in SMIT is near about 90%. Most of the popular companies like Dell, Shell, IBM, Though works, Bosch, Boston scientific, Capgemini, Wells Fargo, ixia etc do come for placement on a regular basis. Some of the companies offer internship leading to placement.
College Events
Every department has a fest to celebrate. The major fest is Kalrav, which is a mega techno-cultural event for a college. An event like Entrepreneurs Meet, Adrista, and other national events are also organised in the college. The students are involved in almost all the event that is organized on the campus.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure varies from branch to branch but approximately we can expect it to be 300000 per year plus minus 20000 to 30000 depending upon the branch you are enrolled. The above approximation includes the course fees and fees for hostel and mess, all included.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have got the scholarship for the state to study in this college. I have not taken the education loan.
Campus Life
The campus of SMIT is one of the best pale to be in entire northeast India. It is the most beautiful campus that you will come across. The ratio of boys and girls are like 60:49, with separate hostels. There are a lot of technical, cultural and sports club in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel fees spend upon the type of room that you want to stay and whether it's single occupancy or double occupancy. Generally, it can go up to almost 13000 per year. The hostel has 24*7 hostel staff to attend any of your problems. There is wifi, hot water facility, AC rooms (optional) in the hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
SMIT has built a very strong and steady alumni network in the past few years. The global alumni meet is conducted every year in different parts of the country.
Admission
The admission can be done using sate quota if you are from the state of Sikkim and you qualify the entrance test conducted by the state government. JEE is another way to get into the counselling process. Better the JEE ranking greater the chance to get your desired branch. The offline test is also conducted for those who did not appear for JEE. This offline test is conducted across India and you can choose any of the nearest centre for appearing the test.
Faculty
The facilities in SMIT are well qualified and knowledgeable. They provide help to the student as much as possible. The facilities are not biased in any context. Most of the facilities are have experience of more than 8 years. The command to the subject of each faculty is remarkable.
