HIMT is affiliated to IMU and hence the course curriculum and exam structure follows the IMU Patten. However, the college gives additional training on personality development, etiquette, placement preparedness etc which help in performing better during placements and getting a job

General rule- If you study well, you will easily get placed. Over 80% of my batchmates got placed in top ship management companies.

We had NAUTICA which was intercollege culturals where we had to go outside chennai to attend the event. It was a grand event where we discovered our inner talents and had fun. Similarly have many intra-college events and sports activities to build up the morale and confidence.

The fee was around 3L per year for 4 years. The fee is inclusive of accomodation, food, books, STCW courses, ship visits, and all the miscellaneous activities. On top of that we have to pay 25000 caution deposit which will be returned on completing the course.

I got a scholarship in 1 year for topping. Scholarship is given to the top ranker every year. They also provide education loan but i didnt avail it

Had an excellent campus life. Had alot of fun with my friends, learnt alot, and feel like ive become a better person. The life starts as a shock but in process, you will see changes in you. Positive changes. Excellent labs. Have a HUGE ship in campus which makes the learning experience better.

Hostel fee is included in the 3L payed. All the fees are included in it. The hostel is good. 4 students per room with an attached bathroom which is very helpful. The hostel floors are good and have lot of fun in the hostel with the friends. The hostel rooms also train you for cadetship.

Shipping is a small industry. And since HIMT has been around for quite some time, i have had HIMT seniors as my seniors on vessels also. Seniors are good. In the first year, the college does not allow much interaction with them to prevent any cases of ragging.

By contacting the college, giving an interview, doing medicals after clearing IMUCET. The admission process is streamlined and excellent. They take good care of you to get admission and to visit the campus. Easy process. The college warden takes us around when we visit the campus before finalising the admission.

The faculty of the college are good. The principal is excellent. The wardens are strict and treat us as if we are on a ship which has helped many of us work on a ship easily without any problems. The faculty constantly train you to perform better to ace the placements.
