Remarks
There are positive and negative things everywhere, nothing is perfect and nobody carries everything with them. The positive thing about BHU is its Indianess and Nationalism. The little negative thing is extracurricular activities are very less here, it gives you are real government organization-like feeling.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is according to the UGC guidelines and yes it needs some change in my opinion because the world is changing and we should change accordingly. For example in Political thought we learn about the Western thinkers and their philosophies, Indian thinkers are totally neglected but in my view, Indian thinker's view is far more deep and good in comparison with their Western counterparts. It follows the semester examination pattern and CGPA mark system.
Placement Experience
There is a separate placement cell for the whole University for all the courses. But the job opportunities are very few and those who get them also at a very low salary. Yes, it provides internship for some courses. (But not in my course).
College Events
Abhyudaya- Fresher's Party normally takes place in September every year. Spandan- Inter-Faculty cultural fest. This takes place in February - March every year. Abhikalpan- Social Science faculty fest, takes place in February. Sanskriti- Cultural fest of Arts, takes place in February.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure is very feasible as it's a central University and it is highly subsidized. It takes around 1825 rs for a year for my course and the hostel fees are around 3000 a year. The food cost in mess is 40 RS per diem for veg and for non-veg it may vary from 60-80.
Fees and Financial Aid
No scholarship is offered by the college, mostly we get scholarships and few reimbursements from the UP govt. Loan facilities are available in the SBI branch inside the campus for the students who get admission to IIT BHU or IMS BHU.
Campus Life
Extracurricular activities in BHU are not up to the mark as they should be or as I see in other universities like JNU, DU, etc. We have many playgrounds and various facilities in them. We have a branch of the Sports Authority of India(SAI) on the campus where the sports material and playgrounds, indoor facilities are very good.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I have opted for the hostel and students get hostel on the basis of what marks they have scored in their entrance examination. Hostel infrastructure is classic and royal as the University was built in 1917 AD and few hostels like Birla are 97 years old. There are facilities like mess, canteen, water, food mess, indoor playground, etc which provide a good environment for study and all-round development.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are best, here we don't have to call them sir, they too behave like a brother not as a senior, they behaved in such a nice way to us so we also maintain that legacy and treat our juniors in a very good manner. The Alumni network is not so strong.
Admission
I filled the entrance UG examination form which comes in Jan-Feb every year. After that, I gave the entrance test in May. Results came out in June in which I got selected, I was called for counseling and document verification in the first week of July. After that, I was provisionally admitted to the University on July 14.
Faculty
The faculty is very professional and they are very passionate about their profession. Here in this University the values and morals are very high because of the high influence of Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya was the founder of the University.
