Remarks
Nothing much to say actually because there are good aspects and bad aspects to every college or institution. Some departments and courses provided and faculties available are better than others, so before taking admission do check and consult with anyone you can.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is alright as it is changing and adapting with time, and so is the exam structure. Earlier we had one main exam per year, now it has become semester based and thus has an exam at an interval of every six months.
Placement Experience
The placements and job opportunities are limited as the college is mainly for graduation courses, not post graduation courses. Still, if we perform well and score the desired percentage of marks, our teachers take the initiative to put us somewhere suitable for the future.
College Events
The college celebrates every small and big event in its own way, starting from Durga Puja, Diwali, Holi, Independence Day, Republic Day, Children's Day, Teacher's Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Netaji Jayanti etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible for most but may seem a bit expensive for a few. The self financed courses like Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science requires more amount than Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry as an example.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college is under the University of Calcutta and they as such do not provide any scholarships or loans until and unless sanctioned from a person currently at power. Only during few special and exclusive cases, loans and scholarships are given automatically.
Campus Life
The college is best when it comes to extracurricular activities, be it cultural like singing and dancing or sports based like football and cricket. Lab facilities are good enough when you consider what's provided in other colleges, but still can be improved and work is going on.
Hostel Facilities
I did not opt for any hostel but I've heard from my friends who stayed that every basic requirement that a student might have was tried to be fulfilled through the infrastructure and facilities provided.
Alumni/Alumna
My own relative was my senior and she guided my properly on what to do and what not do when in college and also when outside the premises. The alumni network is strong and influential and can provide assistance if and when required.
Admission
Based on my 12th standard marks, I got my admission through the 2nd merit list that came out, not the 1st. Depending on each year, there might be 1-3 merit lists that are issued by the college. Then had to meet the HoD and other faculty members.
Faculty
Most are guest facilities, only a few are permanent ones. Every one of them is very knowledgeable and experienced. Some teach better than the others no doubt, but each one has his or her unique personality, strengths and weaknesses.
