Remarks
It is a very prestigious and great college. One should feel privileged and lucky to get to study in this college. I feel the same. It is good in both academic and also extra curricular activities. It has also been ranked as best engineering college since last 4 years.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is good. Students of each department have to finish a certain number of credits to graduate. There is a lot of flexibility in the courses which we can choose. Generally the exam structure is: Two quizzes and an end semester examination.
Placement Experience
There are many opportunities. There is a separate placement portal and internship portal and student teams running them. A lot of companies come to campus for both internships and also placements. I have also got an internship through the campus portal which I will be doing in the next summer with an offer of 45k stipend per month.
College Events
There are many events celebrated in the college. The two biggest ones are Shaastra - the technical fest and Saarang- the cultural fest. Apart from these, we have Lit-Soc events and Sangam events throughout the year and also inter hostel sports championship called Schroeder. Other fun events are also conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is a little expensive. There are 2 semesters per year. The tution fees for each semester is about 1 lakh rupees which is expensive for the middle-class. There is an additional Hostel fee of around 25k for the hostellers.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a loan facility available in campus. There is a branch of State Bank of India in the campus. There are also several scholarships being offered for the deserving (meritorious) and economically backward students. I have not availed any of them.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are great in the campus. There are many clubs like Music, Arts, etc which students can be part of. There are also Leisure time activity courses offered where students can learn about new activities. Sports culture is also very good. Our institute participates actively in all sports in the Inter IIT Sports Meet and also several other tournaments
Alumni/Alumna
There is a huge alumni network. There is also a body called International and alumni relations. They help in getting funds from alumni and also arrange many sessions for students with alumni. They are helpful in giving advices to students in many ways.
Admission
We have to write an entrance exam called Joint Entrance Examination. It has 2 rounds: Mains and Advanced. After qualifying in the Mains exam we get to write the advanced exam. Based on our rank in the advance exam, we will get a seat in the college depending on our preferences.
Faculty
The faculty are highly renowned and also very knowledgeable. Some are into research too. Most of them are also alumni of IITs. Some are very good at teaching while some are not up to the mark. They are very approachable too.
