College review

I've all positive remarks on MANIT Bhopal. The environment is really good. Seniors are quite supportive. Infrastructure is improving. Faculty of also satisfactory. Hostels need to improve. Food in mess is satisfactory. Exam curriculum is also good.

Bachelor's of Technology in chemical engineering has great scope of one wishes for masters it's Cherry on the cake. It has great scope in Middle East countries. Exam curriculum followed in MANIT is same for all branches. Entire course period is divided in eight semesters. We have mini test (10 marks) assignment+attendance (10 marks) mid semester exams (20 marks) and end semester exams (60 marks) for theory subjects. And for practical we have viva, record, and experiments (total 100 marks) so eight subjects (6 theory and 2 practical) in each semester.

Placement and job opportunities are decent in my department. This year statistics get upto 65% placement. Which included 7 PPOs (pre placement offers). The average package of chemical department is 6 LPA. Companies also come for internships in the third year of college. 8 students got internship from campus last year. The average stipend is 60k for two months.

There are lots of events in MANIT. Beginning with the year we have the cultural fest MAFFICK, which is a three day event and includes all cultural competitions like dance, music, modeling and street plays followed by EDM nights and pronites where recognised artists perform. Then comes the English literature fest of college RIPPLE , which is a two day event and includes different competitions like essay writing, article writing and also some fun games. In the next semester we have the hindi literally fest TOORYANAD, which is a three day event including all kind of competitions varying from paridhanika (rampwalk), nrityanjali (dance comp), swarangan (music comp), nukkad natak, vad vivad (debates), chakravyuh (treasure hunt). Next we have the technical fest, TECHNOSEARCH, which is again a three day event. It includes all technical competitions, motor racing, robotics, And some fun events too. It is followed by EDM nights and pronites where recognised artists perform.

Fee structure of MANIT is different for different earning groups. Hostel fees remain same for all. But tution fees is low for students with annual family income less than 1 lacs, moderate for annual income between 1 to 5 lacs and high for annual income more than 5 lpa. It also varies with category a student belong to (st/sc/obc/gen) and is quite high for NRIs.

The scholarship that I am availed of is MMVY (mukhyamantri medhavi yojana) which is for students domicile of MP getting 85%+ in their board exams. Govt pays the complete fees of students availed under MMVY. There are other scholarships which are provided by the college which are solely based on student's performance in academics during his college years.

There is a sports complex in MANIT. It has gymnasium, basketball court, volleyball court, badminton court and indoor games like table tennis and chess. For extra curricular there are many societies in college. Previous year the biggest alumni meet was conducted. It was first time in last 25 years, such a grand gathering took place. Alumnis came forward to help college and many ways, which proved beneficial from placements of college and developing the infrastructure also.

As it is NIT, the only procedure to get admission here for Btech courses is to clear JEE MAINS exam. I have cleared the exam with decent AIR. Then after getting result of JEE , I have filled JOSAA counseling form. There are seven rounds of counseling and students get different colleges all over India according to their ranks. After completion of these seven rounds I got admission in MANIT chemical branch.

Faculty of chemical department is quite satisfactory in some subjects. Some professors are punctual and strict to their rules while some are completely relaxed. Laboratories are in working conditions but there is indeed a lack of maintenance.
