Remarks

It's awesome. If you want to study Stat or Math, it is one of the best places for you in India(for Stat it's undoubtedly best). Academics is tough but if you attend all classes, that shouldn't be an issue.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course of M.Math is one of the best in India, and may be challenged by only IISC, CMI,and TIFR. We have midterm, quiz/class test/hw sessions and an end term. End term consists of at least 50% marks. There's back paper at the end of each semester to clear your backlogs of that sem. If you fail at backpaper too, you can either take a remedial exam at the end of the year, or repeat the whole year. The only drawback is one may have to repeat a whole year for just one course.

Placement Experience

3.5

M.Math students are mainly focused on research in pure Maths. But those who are interested in placement, get placed mainly in posts of Data Analyst or Finance Consultant in reputed companies. Our college holds a 100% record in placement. ISI provides internship opportunities, both academic and job-oriented. I have only attended SRFP at other institutes which give monthly 5k stipend, which is quite a lot for academic internships, if you ask me.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's basically free. You don't have any tuition fees for any course. We only pay Rs. 2300 pm for food and hostel charges. Snacks and lunch daily cost around Rs. 10 and Rs. 8 respectively. In fact ISI gives Rs. 3000 pm stipend to bachelor students, Rs. 5000 pm to Master's students, who maintain score above 60%. Research Scholars get NET-directed funding, somewhat around 25k pm.

Fees and Financial Aid

ISI offers Rs. 3000 pm stipend to its bachelors students, Rs. 5000 pm to masters students, and NET-standard stipend to research scholars. Bachelors, Masters and Research Scholars get contingency of Rs. 3k, Rs. 5k and Rs. 10k per year. INSPIRE and KVPY fellowships are also valid here.

Campus Life

3

We have a sports ground for Cricket, Football, and athletics. We have a badminton court, a volleyball court and also a basketball court, which is also used as a tennis court sometimes. We don't have a regular sports culture but we often play friendlies with neighbouring RV College and Bangalore University students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel Infrastructure is a bit lacklustre. Electricity charges are included in the fixed room rent. We have washing machines @ all the hostels. We also have free Wi-Fi with speed upto 5 MBPS but it gets interrupted during weekends. We also have a night canteen to satisfy our midnight cravings.

Alumni/Alumna

Our alumni are placed at several academic positions at universities across the world. Seniors are very helpful. They help you to get accustomed to the environment after class 12. They helped us academically a lot.

Admission

ISI holds an entrance exam yearly for admission to its various courses. It consists of a written, and then an interview round. I was selected for B.Math.B.Math/B.Stat students with good marks automatically qualify for M.Math/M.Stat.

Faculty

4

The Stat-Math Unit is the only one of its kind in India, researching on both pure math and applied statistics. Stat Professors are best in India, as it is the sole institute of national importance for specialization in Stat. Our Math professors are also distinguished in their respective fields.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Food and nutrition articles in newspaper made me to take this course. As it had full scope in that time. Actually curriculum is very poor in preparing us for real world application. Practical session must include more of industrial visits and projects related to industry. We had enough time to study .

I liked this biotechnology course in degree(Bsc) and i wanted to continue this course with higher studies. Hence this university is reputed one in Karnataka.. i choose this one and I got the seat and I am very happy for this. The teaching methods are really good but it depends on particular lecturers, how they teach .. For main sem exam the time was around 3 hours for 70 marks and it was moderate and can be manageable

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is fairly distributed among the 2 years. The first year broadly covers the course work, and learning of the laboratory techniques. Followed by a mini project and a major project under a professor of interest. Stem cell biology always intrigued me and this course offered exactly what I want. The curriculum focuses on training students very rigorously to make them fit for harsh conditions and situations in the real research world.
