The uni-varsity of Barak Valley

A major positive remark of this varsity is the student fraternity. They all are so helpful and very much connected to each other. No one in this varsity ever walks alone in their pain or sorrow. Also the lush green environment in and around the institute offers an excellent opportunity for everyone to study hard and have better life to support our parents.

The course curriculum is quite an interesting one which has so much of chemistry and biology n lots of other interesting stuff like checking pulse rate, blood pressure, etc. The curriculum gets more interesting as the course progresses ahead all because of such wonderful faculties in the department. The exam structure is semester wise and fee has to paid on annual basis. Also, the University is a deemed university.

The university has an active placement cell which organises placement opportunities for all the students in various private and public sector firms. Nestle, Dr. Reddy, Abbott are among the few to mention. Yeh the pharmaceutical sciences department also has a provision for internship for all the students after they have completed 6th semester. The internship can be carried out in a pharmaceutical industry, a private or public hospital or both.

The department of pharmaceutical sciences has its very own annual fest 'GENERIX' where there is a free health camp, cultural programs and many other activities. Further the University also hold various other events such as Saraswati puja, republic day, a week long sports week, a week long social fest and many more. All these activities are too interesting to talk about and I can't find suitable words to discuss about tej events in the varsity.

The fee structure is quite feasible. Moreover the fee has to paid on annual basis so it doesn't put much pressure on the students and guardians. On an average the annual fee for an individual is approximately 25000-30000 which is quite feasible. The fee depends upon the course, professional courses have a little higher fee scale in comparison to the general courses.

The ishan uday scholarship is a very popular one in this varsity. Monthly each individual gets an amount of nearly 7800 for 3 or 4 years depending upon the duration of course. Apart from the cited scholarship there are other scholarships also which are applicable to the students studying in the North Eastern states of India.

A large number of extracurricular activities occur in the university including debate competition, quiz competition, inter College sports tournaments, inter departmental competition to name a few. The university also has 2 music bands of its own which consists of the students right from the vocals to playing all the instruments. Our department is equipped with a number of laboratories which contain numerous equipments that are in excellent conditions such as a UV spectrophotometer, tablet compression machine, tablet coating machine, pH meter to name a few of them.

All the students, alumni as well as current students are connected together by means of a Facebook page named 'AUS Students' Forum' where we discuss a number of matters related to our lives including day to day activities as well as future plans and placement programs. The seniors and alumni are very helpful as they provide us with a number of opportunities to prove ourselves through various competitive stages.

I came to know about this institute from my maternal uncle who suggested me to carry out my higher studies in this institution. At first I didn't show much interest but after knowing the perks of studying in a university rather than a college I was eager to join the institution. I kept looking for the admission notice from May 2016 and finally the notice was out in the month of July 2016. I submitted my online application form within 5 days of having seen the notice. Then in the last week of July there was an entrance examination for admission to the University followed by a personal interview. I cleared both the examinations and got my name on the merit list of the department of pharmaceutical sciences.

The faculty members are fabulous. They are always eager to teach us new things and are always there to help us whenever we are in trouble. They never think of a second when it comes to academics even if they an extra minute they utilize it for our benefit. Moreover the practical sessions with our teachers is so much interesting that all our doubts are cleared in one go. They make things very easy for us to understand.
